Hello everybody,

i own a Bally Alpha S9000 machine, current game is 24 Karat. Installed is an Ithaca 950 Printer. My problem is, that i cannot get it work. When pressing the "Print Ticket" - Button i always have to do a Handpay by turning the Jackpot key. I have tried several settings in the setup menu; nothing works. Printing a test voucher works fine; so the printer is in working condition.

Which settings must i use? Thanks for any help  applause

No, it must be on so leave it on.  I think the jurisdiction chip may have something to do with it.  I was told that for home use a California Tribal jurisdiction chip is needed to be able to print a ticket in an Alpha.  What is in your machine?

I guess your are on the right way. Originally my machine comes from california and the printer works fine. Later i have done several game changes. Therefore i have changed the CPU as well. The CPU i have installed now comes from florida. So do you mean i should change the jurisdiction chip?

Yes, change it back to California. You may have bought it from CA but the machine may have actually come from some other place.  If it did print though chances are it will print again using that chip.

@idesign: Do you think it will be enough, when i simply change the small chip with the 8 pins, not the complete CPU?

@Mirage_Chaser: Yes, it´s a machine working standalone

Ability to print without a system is determined by the jurisdictional chip. If the old jurisdictional chip let you print then yes switch back to that. However there may be an error that will require a ram clear.

Just change it like Mirage Chaser says but do a CLEAR too.

CA I assume Tribal, and FL are about the best Jurisdiction Chips when it comes to settings

For the game to Print without a System set your Validation to "Standard" in the Host section set the Machine Control to SAS Primary and the Ticket Out option to SAS Primary

However there is a draw back for operating Bally Games as BiTo, if you power the game down on a regular basis eventually you will come up with an error code, the Ticket Print Out remains in the Buffer waiting to send the information to a system

If you don't power down it will run perfect, after a number of Print Outs and then power down, expect to perform another RAM Clear to get rid of the error

Harp

Harp do you have a screen shot of the CA chip running in a machine? If so would you please post it.
I would like to campair it to the Florida Jurisdiction that I'm using.

At one point I was able to print tickets with the Florida Jurisdiction, but had to do another RAM clear. Ever since I can't remember the setting I used. I can set it up fine without a printer but when I add the printer in the mix I can never compleat the setup. I get "Machine control not selected" or Validation not entered.

Hi Neonkiss your almost there

Validation not entered - In the Comm settings in the section for Host1 set for SAS Primary then select the configure box and set Validation as Standard
Return to the previous page and select "Set" this will then highlight the box in the middle of the screen either "Host or Dual Host this will highlight the box
touch the highlighted box and you will then enter the control section, select
Machine Control as SAS Primary
Voucher Out - SAS Primary

Let me know if this makes sense

Thanks Harp.  applause
I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. I want to burn off some of the cerdits I got with a jackpot first.
Maybe I'll play a few rounds at $15.00 bet. That will get rid of the credit quickly.

Peachpit,
You will have to do a clear and set up the machine again. Anytime you change hardware or software you will have to do the clear.

what OS and Bios were you using with your previous set up?  The California Tribal jurisdiction chip supports U.S. BV software.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

i have to take a look when i´am back at home. I´am pretty sure my BV has worked with that CA jurisdiction and Bios chip. BUT: This was with an older game. Now i would like to run a 24 Karat game. When i insert the game flash card and game OS from that game i became an error. Could i use the older game OS with the game flash card for the 24 Karat game perhaps?

Thanks again, Dennis

How far into the boot sequence do you get before the error?
Also what is the error? There are a lot of mismatch error codes, it should be more specific.

All Hail the Harp.....   Hail  Hail  Hail Hail

That did it. Thank You.  Clap applause Clap applause
Mine is working again with the Florida Jurisdiction chip. I had it working before just by trial and error and winding up with the correct combination.
It's kinda like opening a safe.
If you miss one number you wont know it until you get to the end. Only then do you know if you got it right. When it doesn't open you have to clear it out and start from scratch.

I'll post a detailed word doc with pictures latter tonight on all the setting needed,
Thanks again Harp.

Steve, You need a CF clear card.
Try Roger at LA Slots or one of the vendors at the top of the page.

OK,
Here is the step by step set up instructions for the Alpha with a printer installed.
This will work for CA and FL jurisdiction chips.

Enjoy and thanks to Harp and Jim at Bettor Slots for the knowledge they provided me.  applause

The attachment is too big to up-load here.
Can a Mod please tell me if there is way to post a 3.22MB file?

OK Wayne converted the word docx to .pdf so it will fit here.
During the conversion it lost a lot of the resolution from the original, but good enough to get the basics.
