Hi Everyone.

Long time since I posted since you all fixed my first problem...A new one has popped up with a little twist that is costing me access to my piggy-bank!!

WMS Jackpot Stampede 401  NON-Dotmation.

Partial power up, all power LED's on the circuit board on. , Reels partial spin. Bill acceptor activates. top florescent lamp flickers or is off. No LED's in the window
for bets, wins, coins in, etc.

The spin arm does not come down when turning the key, thus I am not able to access the Dollar Bill Holder since the arm doesn't come down.
Obviously, I am not getting power to the spin arm either.

NOW I am in panic mode, this is my cash stash!!

So, reading the FORUM I think I have a PS problem. I have the tools, capabilities, and parts to do PCB repair (my real job), I just don't know, or can't find in the forum
what parts or caps to replace.

Any help is appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Kevin

When you say that all of the LEDs are on on the circuit board, is that including the FAIL LED?

So I did the LOWER power supply conversion which is basically splicing the wires. Still have the problem.

I am getting no power to the door panel electronics for the exception of the Florescent lights. No LED's,
no button lights, no  little incandescent lights for insert coins, etc.

I also can not activate the bet arm with the key to fold the arm  all the way down to access the bill holder.

Thanks,

Kevin

Sounds like a bad I/O board.
PM me and I'll send you a good one to troubleshoot with.

Neonkiss sent me a good I/O board and that did not fix the problem.

All power LEDS are on, Fault LED is off.

No power to the door electronics for the exception of the florescent lights.
Also no power to the administrators key, or Reel lights

Reseated all the backplane molex connectors, no luck.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Just an update..

I replaced the entire power distribution unit with a rebuilt from Rudy's.. Still broken.

Has anyone experienced a backplane's power traces get burned up?

Recap of symptoms.

Reel lights off and betting arm nonfunctional.

No power to the door( LEDS and display lights) floresent lights work.

I/O board replaced.

Still looking for some ideas

Thanks,

Kevin

Under the small board in the main power supply , there is fuses, Also small caps, they are blue in color, check the fuses, if they are ok,
The cap at # c-5 is bad,  this should take care of the problem,  also check you pm,

Kevin, When you say the entire power distributation unit., Do you mean the metal box on the left hand side wall held on with two nuts?
If so, that would eliminat the power control board that kenokarz is refering to. However take a look at it as I agree with his sudgestion. If it looks like something you want to try a replacement for drop a picture here as they made two differant styles.

Several years back, when I first acquired the slot machine, it did not work, and replacing the 'C5" cap fixed the problem. I did use a higher voltage cap.

With this problem today, I have completely replaced the old power supply / distribution gray metal box  on the left with a new one from Rudy's.

I have inspected the backplane at work under a microscope and didn't see any problems..
