sg50b machine unplugged for years.  Is battery a clip on type or one soldered to board?   I am unsure of myself if replacement is complicated.  Trying to find tech help in El Paso tx. if possible.

Thanks.  I did that but no help.  A local person told me to keep the machine plugged in for a couple days in hopes the battery would recharge since it is like a lithium battery on computers.

Some time back I had one that when it was not run for some time that would happen.
I'd turn reset key & it was good.

Leaving the machine on for a few days may help, but you still need to reset the jackpot.  And while it may have a battery, the sg50b's that I have ( thanks again Ford!) have slow discharge capacitors.  I don't have the number handy, but you can find a replacement from digikey.  There is another topic in this section that has the link to the one I got.

Hope it helps,
Gregg

I found someone to look at the machine.  I had no key to reset the machine.  He jumpered the reset key and wala it works like a charm.  Thanks to everyone who helped.

You should still replace the battery if it is bad. Or you will have to reset the jackpot and turn the bill validator back on every tim you power the machine up.
