 Soapbox Alert

The new trend around here seems to slap something on your dog that says "service animal" and then take it wherever you want. Apparently now you can not even question whether or not it's legit. I know what a service dog is, and I'm sorry, but I have never seen a service poodle, or a service dachshund, etc. I used to see one of these animals maybe once a month if that (and mostly at the VA hospital). Now I see one practially evey day and eveywhere. I really hate when people abuse the system.

I know what you are saying... saw a service Chihuahua the other day! If there is valid training and a true need I am all for it, but I think it may be getting abused quite a bit as you said. Some of the breeds that you would not expect to be service dogs actually are well trained to help their masters with PTSD or Diabetes or the like. Some people just have to ruin a good thing.

I always joke that we should get a service dog vest for my sisters dog and take him with us to a buffet.... Unfortunately all he would do is service the buffet and scare away any competition for the good stuff!!! HA HA bust gut laughing

This is true and you got it right when you said "trained". I was in the auto dealership the other day waiting for my truck and there was a guy with his "service dog". All the dog wanted to do was jump around and beg for food from everyone. Dogs that are trained to be service animals don't act like that. And on top of it, he let the dog take up one of the seats (people were already having to stand because it was crowded). And of course nobody could say a word.

Wait till you take a future air flight. They're getting ready to allow service pigs, horses, monkeys, cats, elephants, whatever...
You only THINK it's bad now
