I have a Triple Double Stars game,  had battery problem,  soldered new holder in game started working but after playing a while it erases all of your credits and says call attendant.  When you open the door to reset the alarm sounds and it says ram error.  You can reset and start all over again but it repeats the problem.  The candle never stops flashing while in play.  This is an old multi denom game.  Does this ring any bells with the experienced guys out there???

Are you talking about a S2000 with the 502 0r 504 board with the green battery.

When the alarm goes off, turn your key 4 times, hold the button for 2-3 seconds, and close the main door.  Have you already run through that part of it and the problem repeats itself?

Previous battery problem...was it doing the same thing then?  I'm assuming you put a new battery in the holder?  I'm not a voltage expert, but can you get a reading off of the new battery?  Was the old battery reading low voltage?  Perhaps an issue with the battery holder?

Got another board handy to throw in there?

I've had this issue multiple times in one of my s2000's. My issue was resolved by reseating the SB chip nice and firm - I change kits often. Don't know if this helps.

I can try that and see what happens,  could it be that the green battery is low and the machine needs to be left on.  I dont know if a low green battery could cause that problem.

On that version of board, it won't matter.  I cut mine off.  Any corrosion around the battery on the board?

Did the same problem occur prior to the addition of the battery holder and new battery?

Well, I've read a lot of posts around here about funky battery voltage and boards that take a dive for whatever reason.  If the the battery is ruled out and shows good voltage, and the chips are correct and seated properly, as a last resort, I would clear the machine and start from scratch.  What have you got to lose at that point?

If a clear doesn't change the situation, I would be looking to test with another board.

Thanks,
Jason

Try re-seating all the socketed components (SB, SG, Version, RAM) etc.  Also check around the area where the battery was soldered for any stray solder that could be creating a solder bridge.

I reseated the SB chip and even though there were no visable errors I closed the door and cleard them.  The machine is working and so far no problems.  Thanks for all of the help!
