Hey Guys,

I'm about to dig into a 550 that has a BV not active. Any tips on where I should start?  The lights don't light up it's as if there is no power to the whole assymbley. All the harnesses are connected. When the cash can is missing the game doesn't tilt either.

My next step is to check if voltage is at the connector to the validator.

Game runs normal and takes coins.

Thanks for any tips!

The 550 requires a RS 232 Comm board either one the back of the BV frame that the harness from the bv housing plugs into it then to the backplane, or on the side of the WBA itself, if it does not have one or the other start there

The two different types of RS 232 boards that Blueridge was talking about.
Was this working before?

Thanks! That is the problem...

So I took the BV from my working 550... looked closer at the side mounted board, sure enough it said RS232C.  I put it in the Non-working 550 (required changing the mating plug since they are opposites, male on BV Female on Cage Vs. Male on cage Female on BV) and the unit with the RS232C board works.

The BV from the non-working 550 has a side mounted board too but it is labeled "Vegas Cabinets" VC1002 Rev A. 1998.  I've attached a picture of this one, if it is RS232C board then it's dead because it doesn't work in the working 550 set up.

Anyone got any of these boards?  I'd prefer the matching configuration for the one pictured vs. the other style with the single connection to the RS232 board.

Looks like that is a 2004 chip so no, it does not except the new five. You can check with some of the venders above for one. The resident guru on this is Op-Bell so he may chime in. In the mean time if you have not already you can down load the manual from JCM site on the WBA.

The Pic you showed is of a WBA 10/11, if it had an Eprom it is an 11, the newest bill upgradeable to is the new $10, nothing newer, and that BV will only accept bills one way, Face up and Top of Head to Right, I don't understand about the Mating Plug, are you sure you don't have a WBA 12/13 plug in the game, it would have little pins in squares in a black connector, show some pics we should have the stuff you need, or you may have the right stuff there
