I finally got my Ripley's Ripley's Believe it or Not to work!. FYI: I was getting a "Invalid Main File Hash" error. I fixed it by increasing the memory by adding two SIMM 72 pin RAM chips.

I've been paying the Ripley's for the past couple of days and every once in a while during the trivia bonus game the game locks up and the whole machine restarts. I can briefly see an error message "Program Detected Invalid Data" then the game eventually reboots, the bonus round finishes where it left off and the game continues normally. It could be that one of the video or audio files use in the bonus might be corrupted. I don't have any issues during the Globe bonus round.

I was wondering if anyone else running the Ripley's game has experienced this? I got my game from Rudy's Steals & Deals. I actually have two copies and both have the same error. Is there anyone out there with a different or original copy of Ripley's I'd like to hear from you. Or if someone wants to swap games and try out my extra copy of Ripley's on their Sigma 1700 to see if they get the same error, let me know.

I'm not sure if this helps but i know some boards had 100 MHz CPU's in them and some had 133 MHz CPU's Maybe the processor speed has something to do with it.

Also what memory size are you up to on the ram? I believe mine worked fine with one 128 Meg. Stick.

I have seen bad RAM in regular computers cause them to reboot also.

I found the problem with the Ripley's bonus round crashing.

After finding out that the RAM was the main problem with the Ripley's slot I went back and took a closer look at it. The main 168 pin SD-RAM that originally came with this machine is labeled as "PC133 256meg", but when watching the memory test when the machine starts, it was only showing 128meg. I got another 256meg chip and swapped it out and now it shows 256meg during start-up. So either that original memory chip was mis-labeled or it's gone bad. Together with the 2 64meg 72 pin SIMM chips I added I now have 384meg of RAM.

I've been playing the Ripley's game for a couple of days now with no crashes, so I very happy to finally get this machine working properly. I loved this game when it was in the casinos. It has one of the most unique bonus games of any video slot.

Another game I would love to get is Clue. Does anyone know where to get a copy? I played that a few times and really enjoyed it.
