I was left an IGT Model 40340 slot machine that has an error code 12 when you turn it on.  Can you help me find a replacement SAFT LS 3 3.5 volt battery for it?
Will a 3.6 volt work?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks I replaced the battery successfully.  On first power up it briefly gave a 62 1 bad data eprom error code then the wheels start turning sluggishly or slowly and nothing else happens except a few clicks now and then.  Do I need to reset some chip to get it to start properly?

Thanks

According PSR, you must replace data PROM. I don't know if there is other solution.

Have you ever seen the machine operate correctly?

For now, I would open the door (while reels are spinning sluggishly) and turn the little reset key on the side of the machine ONCE (little brass key, NOT the door key). It turns back/away from you.  See what that does and report back!

Yes the slot has worked the last time about 2 years ago.

I have tried the reset key a few times without luck.

In the error code guide it states to check the circuit board prior to changing the reel prom.  Are there instructions on how to perfrom the check?

Any preferred vendor for IGT proms?

Thanks

Is it still showing a 62_1 error?  Unless you did something to the ROM chip on there, chances are good that it didn't suddenly go bad.

As far as checking the MPU board, there's not much to check unless you have a different machine to put the suspect board into, or a bench tester for IGT S+ MPU boards (I'm guessing you don't have one of those).

Do you have any spare known good MPU boards to try?

As far as obtaining new chips, try posting in the classifieds section here on the forum, or try one of the vendors linked on the main NLG homepage.

No error at this time.  When turned on the wheels turn slowly and make a noise hard to describe.  No 62_1 error at this time.  Thanks

If there's no error code now, why are you looking to replace the chip?

If you have a game where the reels are slowly turning, open the door, turn the reset key, close the door. That should resolve the reel tilt.
