Does anyone know what "permanently converted to tokens" means. Most all ebay auctuion machines say this. I understand what the "converted to tokens" part means, but I have to ask... how "permanent" is it?
Ebay states that the machine must not be "easily be converted back" to take coins.
Now Im thinking unless they glued or welded in some sort of token only comparitor this is probably not "permanent". But then I dont know. So I have to ask.  Has anyone bought a machine off ebay that said this and how bad was the conversion (if you converted it back).

They're full of cr$p. They put that in there to satisfy Ebay's rules. All you have to do is swap coins out on the comparitor orchange the comparitor if they glued it in or something

Just like on the fake locations.....recent word from eBay is that the fake locations will no longer be an option come October, that field will no longer be able to be altered. We shall see...

There are no stupid questions - the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

I bought a machine "permanently converted". Instead of the regular comparitor which you can swap coins in they had installed an imonex.
The imonex is a non-powered plastic coin acceptor. It basically controls the size of a coin with a set screw.
To make it work they also cut Q4 which is the powered lead to the coin optics and then wire tied back the divertor.

Incidently the seller was selling comparitor on another auction.

I had the option of adjusting the set screw to allow it to accept coins. I however prefer my machines as close to original as possible so I reversed these changes.

IGT uses a coin comparitor - you simply change the sample coin to the denomination that you want to use.
From a casino perspective this validates the coin played is of the same metallic properties as the sample coin.
The next test is a ABC optic. This is actually 3 optics that have to be triggered in order - theoretically by a falling coin.
This prevents stringing - the process of pulling a coin back via a string so it can be played again.

IF both of these tests are passed then the coin is allowed to fall into the hopper.
