it is possible I had a motherboard with damaged traces near the power and netplex connectors.
That is why the enhanced motherboards have fuses to prevent it.
shortly before I replaced the motherboard (for the 50x series MPU's) my machine would be ready to play including the player buttons being lit up correctly, the VFD would be reading Display Netplex Link is Down. I would press the max bet, machine would apply the credits to the game and do nothing. I would cycle the power machine would come up, it became a daily occurance.
motherboard replaced issue disappeared.
This is why I do not recommend anyone uses the netplex ports to power anything just a bit risky doing it. either use the power leads that feed power to the motherboard or power dist board(s) if yours has them.
That is also why IGT has added a second power dist board to the lower cabinet as well.

It was the bill acceptor.

Ok new problem same machine.
Now that i have a display I am going thru the clear procedures after you push the button for 3-5 seconds then close the door. well the message close the door stays on after I close it. I have changed the optics and finally bypassed the optics and can never get past close the door.

Darell  Just want to throw this out there, The optic wires go from the door to a two wire plug most times located behind or just below # 1 reel. Wires from the other side of that two wire plug go to the cabnet optics.

If those two plugs are not connected the bypass won't work.

Maybe it will, let me think about it.
