Found these on EBAY recently - Cheaper and more compact alternative to the modules we have been using.
Can be built into the micro - machine harness and insulated with some heatshrink.

Finally recieved these from Deal Extreme (The EBAY seller I linked to does not ship here). These things are tiny. Pictured here next to the modules we have been using up to now.

Here it is together with a Arduino Mini for a standalone TITO device the same size as 28Pin Dip.
No real reason fot it to be so small - Just wanted to see how compact I could make it.

Not a RS232 to TTL converter, but if someone needs a lot of RS232 ports, this is a good deal even though there is no case (I verified that with the seller). I have one of the 4 port versions and it works great.
