Ok, Some of you have been awesome in answering some of my questions as I have started to feel out what is possible with an s2000 project. I appreciate all of the wisdom greatly.  Now I have a better idea as to what I am up against I am going to need some pointers as the project officially begins.

I landed a project machine off ebay for 200 bucks.  The problem is, it has been "permanently converted" to not take coins or dollars.  It has a credit button installed so apparently you just hit this button, it adds credits and then you play from that. I of course, want to make it a nickel machine that also accepts bills.
It has no coin comparitor or hopper or coin head or BV.  Those are the obvious pieces that I can see I need.  However, I need to know what else I am missing, Are there wires, harnesses, coin chutes, etc... that go inbetween these parts that I am over looking.

We'll need a picture of the inside of the door to tell you more but you for certain need a hopper and everything related to the BV (transport, head, bezel, housing, cash can).  You'll probably also need a clear and key chip to set machine after installing coin handling hardware.

Thanks Bob.
I will get more pictures posted when I actually receive the machine in the mail. This is all I have to go off of right now.
 I appreciate your insight.

So as I get into Bill validators....... it seems there are a few choices?    JCM and WBA?   From reading previous posts some people were calling the JCM 145 garbage and said to get a JCM 200.  I dont know much about the WBA's.
What are the advantages and disadvantages here?  This is not for commercial use so im not concerned with it being "top of the line" and catch fake bills or anything. I just want it to do a decent job of taking all up to date american bills.
Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated. I'll learn anything I can.

It's an S2000 model, minimum requirements are gonna be a wba 12 or 13. Post a WTB in the classifieds here and a vendor will help you out with that.

You will want a WBA, not a JCM, for an S2000.  WBAs are much more popular and the updated units are readily available. They are solid units, and still being used currently in casinos.  yes yes

The DBV-145 and DBV-200 are more common on the S+ platform.

For Your Information JCM is the company that makes the WBA series of Bill Acceptors they also make the DBV and UBA as well.
WBA-12 is flashed based meaning you have to have some one update it but the last update that was done is the new $100 since its design was finalized before the end of 2011
The WBA has officially reached end of life at the end of 2011 (no more support)
WBA-13 has a EPROM in a soicket that you can change but you will need to get the WBA calibration paper (either buy or borrow one)

if you want a Bill Acceptor that is still future proof get a UBA-10 but be prepared to pay $200 -$300 for it.
the cash cans for the UBA and WBA are interchangeable
the advantages of the UBA it will align bills that are fed at a angle and no lever to release the cash can
the alignment mechanism does make the UBA a little noisier
