Hi everyone.

10/7/12

Well I finally got the broken ground fixed. The speaker started working, however, still no lights on, service button, which works.  The cash / credit button not operating or will light up.  Machine works properly except for holding credits.

These are new buttons.  Any other ideas out there.

Jack

I need help on a Players Edge Miltie.  I have 3 issues, needing your help with.

1.) machine takes coins 1-5 on all games selected.  Upon a win it drops correct wins, on any game played.
Presently no light shows on the cash out button, when I go to test mode,it confirms the button is working properly.
Note: the three left buttons show functioning but do not light when activated, cash out, service,  bet 1 credit (will not allow credits to add after a win) so it shouldn't  light anyway.  I switched out a NEW, service button, works same as old, turning on and off service light, but it also fails to light up when activated.

2.) when in test mode, I can not get it to go past first test screen.  There are times it does, when that happens and I want to change a setting it prompts to turn reset and press deal button to activate change, but nothing happens.

3.) while opening and closing door, trying different things, my belly light went off, after the machine went thru its start up test.  Door when opened, light returned.  When checking for loose wire, the middle, plug on my left side mounted board, center row, white or light tan wire, when moved would make belly glass light flash on/off.  Then it came out of plug.   After that happened, i can close door light stays on after it goes thru the restart mode.  How do I reattached? Or should I machine works and when it was attached I still had the same button and credit issues as I discribed earlier.

Thank you, in advance, for any help you Can provide.

You need to make sure there are no credits on the system before you try and make changes.
The service button isn't wired to work as a light. Same on the S+ slots.
THe lead is there on the button but you need to pull power from a different source.

The bet 1 should work the same as a max bet etc. Check the ground wire that is common to all switches.

The cash out button is not really cash out.
Its a Cash/Credit button - the machine either pays Cash or it Collects Credits.
You set the function of the button in the setup screen.
Right now it sounds like it is set for Credit. SO the machine collects credits and when the button is pressed it cashes out.
IF it was set for Cash then all pays would go to the tray.
Then there is a toggle mode. The machine defaults to cash but when pressed the machine will collect credits. I think the light alternates when in this mode.

Personally I leave it in credit mode.

Jay thanks for responding.  I would love to leave it in credit, but when set for credit using the button it still drops coins.

How do I put photo's in these messages, it might help if you see my test screen.

When in credit mode, the button causes it to dump its credit load as coins.

Have you cleared the credits before trying to go into setup ??

For photos etc, simply save the file to your computer then use the Browse button below to find and select your photo. Max 2 per post.

Hi Jack, my two cents ...

1)  It's possible the 3 left button bulbs are simply burned out.  You could try replacing one of the lights that you know works to see if it's the bulb or the wiring.  I know you said you put an entirely new button in there, but sometimes, those bulbs come burned out too (I recently had one - brand new switch with bad bulb).  If the bulb is good, but still doesn't light up, then it's a wiring issue.  Look at the buttons that do light up and notice the wiring.  There are 2 connections to the bulbs: + and -.  Make sure they're wired the same as the working bulbs.

As for credits vs. coins, I believe the hopper size can also cause the coins to payout even if you have CREDIT enabled.  Make sure you set your hopper size to 3999.

2)  I think you couldn't get past the first screen because you had credits.  Now that you have no credits, you should be able to press the White Test button again to progress through each of the screens.  Perhaps your button is a little touchy and you may have to press it again.

3)  Belly light wire is connected to a Molex plug.  Inside of the plug is a metal cylinder-shaped tube that the wire attaches to.  Then, the other side of the tube slides over the corresponding male side of the light.  It sounds like the wire came unattached.  A little bit of a challenge, but you'll need to pull the metal piece out of the plug and re-attach the wire to it.  You may even need to get a new one.  That will ensure a good connection to the light.

Hope this helps!  :Dave

thanks for your impute.

the broken wire repairs shoudn't be an issue.  getting the credits to work is the most pressing.

i have attached my hopper size screen, set at 400. should this be 399 or 3999?

i followed instructions  at bottom of screen.  turning reset key did nothing.  the sequence i used was turn key, then hit draw.  could move arrow but nothing else happened. what do you do to change numbers?

Turning the key should increment the digit from zero to one.
Turning the key again increments from one to two.
If you continue turning the key, you will go all the way to nine and then back to zero again.
The key requires about a quarter of a turn away from you (or until it doesn't turn anymore).

The Deal button moves the cursor right-to-left from one digit to the next.

So, you would press the Deal button until the cursor is under the far right digit as pictured above.
Then, keep turning the key until the digit is set to nine.
Then, press Deal to move over one position to the left.
Repeat until you set it to 3999.

If turning the key isn't have any effect, then you might have a bad key switch.

FYI=  I increased coins accepted from 5 to 10.  thought the bet-1 button would allow me to bet one at a time.  it did not.  i needed to load 5 more coins to get auto draw to start up.

i was able to get rest key working.  Changed hopper to 3999.

played game win dropped to tray.

pressed credit button, played again, and win again dropped to tray

One more setting to check, which is MAX BET (or something like that).  Make sure that matches the hopper size of 3999.

Sorry, not that one.  Depending on the game, it will be something like CREDIT LIMIT.  That should be equal to the 3999.

Dave; well here is were I am at.
1. Replaced service switch, works well, switch will not light.  Tower light will go on and off with switch.  ( if I reverse the no / nc wires the draw button will not work)
2.) changed cash out button, no light on button,  but in test mode, show switch working,  green/white wire think ground, is same wire that broke off center plug into motherboard) haven't fixed yet ordered replacement pin for plug.
3.) replaced 1 bet button,  in test mode shows working no/nc  when flipping thru screen this button will flash along with the max bet button.  When mem test is done lights stop flashing and returns to game function.

Game plays still no credits being held.

The bet 1 and cash out button have 6 colored wire connectors, I am not sure what is the correct colors going to each contact, the hook up colors, or, even if they all need to be connected.  I would think they do.  Something is not recognizing the cash out button being push to hold credit.  Well I will let you know if something chanes whin I fix that board wire.

Jack

Hang in there Jack.  You'll be a master at this real soon.   yes

Those first 2 screens are your input/output tests.  Like you wrote before, you can use the INPUT screen to test your buttons.  You use the OUTPUT screen by pressing the DEAL button to move to the next test and turning the Jackpot Reset Key to activate the output test.

With no credits on the machine (which we no at this point you don't have because the darn machine won't keep any), you can continue to press the White Test button to navigate to each of the configuration/setting screens.

Thus far, you've set ...
MAX BET was how many coins you can bet at a time.
HOPPER SIZE is how many coins the hopper will hold before it starts paying out.

Earlier you wrote that the BILL VALIDATOR is ENABLED (not DISABLED), therefore, you must have also set the DENOMINATION too (I'm assuming) ... if not, that should be set too by turning the Jackpot Reset key.

I think you also wrote that you set it up for CREDIT instead of COIN.  That should also maintain credits.

Finally, there should be a setting that refers to the CREDIT LIMIT, JACKPOT LIMIT or BILL LIMIT (or all 3).  By setting those to 3999, you're telling the machine to hold credits until the 3999 limit is reached.  Do you have a screen like that?

Attached is the manual.  You may not have all the settings described in the manual ... no worries ... some games don't have all those screens.

Thanks for your support Dave .  When in the output screen and I try to use the reset key at one of the prompts, nothing happens.  I can toggle thru all the titles, but reset key is not working in just this one screen.

I think with all the proper settings we were able to look at and confirm to be correct, that I should replace the credit / cash button with a new one.  Because I can't get the service and credit button to light up, maybe there is a ground wire I don't  see.  Also, I need to fix that plug wire, that may be part of all of this.

Thank you very much for the PDF, I will study it.

Give me a few days and I will let you know how I fare.

Thanks again Jack

igt's are famous for the wires breaking inside their insulation near the door hinges -opening the door several thousand times in its life weakens the wires, to test: separate and pull each wire, at the center of the harness by where the wires flex where the door opens, see if any are stretchy like a rubber band, sometimes you can find one or two -i had a game king with 10 broken, but touched just enough to keep the machine working, -only proper way to fix is a solder in a couple inch splice (don't forget to use heat shrink tubing to insulate wires.)

I believe they reshuffle every hand.
It would however cool to get a card counting simulator for Video poker / Black Jack so you could see how accurate you would be.
