Add Coin-In/Coin-Out To S2000 & Other options

Hi All,

This is my first post and I have not purchased a machine yet so please bare with me..

I am looking at purchasing a S2000 Double Diamond Deluxe machine, however all but 1 of the majior online dealers that I can find only sell the S2000's with Bill Acceptors and Ticket out.

The only place that I found that sells it with Coin In/Coin Out wants $1,100.00 shipped.   I can get the same machine with Bill Acceptor and Ticket Out for $649.00 Shipped.

I've been researching these machines for about a week now, so I've learned alot, but I know there is still much more to learn.  One thing I've picked up on is that All S2000's seem to be the exact same and completely modular, meaning that you can add features like coin in/coin out, backlit reels, etc if the machine I purchase doesn't come with it.

The parts don't seem all that expensive, probably becauce they are universal to all the machines so there are alot of parts around.

So my questions for now are  How do I add Coin In/Coin Out to a S2000 Machine that is currently not setup for Coin operation?  What are all the parts I will need, What is the aprox. cost?   Are the Coin operations really as trouble some as some of the dealers claim?  (I can see in a casino, but for home use, the machine won't have the use in year that it gets in a couple days on a casino floor)  Is the 9", 16" or Round Top model easier to find game kits for?

Is there anything else I need to know before making my purchase of a machine?    This is a big investment and not something that I am going to just sell and replace,  I want to buy the right one the first time.

Where are you located? That usually will dictate the answers to some of your questions.

Kits can be found in any of the 3 top box configurations, just depends on your personal preference. Of course ultra rare themes may be easier to find in one of the other but that just depends on what theme you are looking for. A lot of people prefer round tops but I prefer 16" tops or 9" chop tops better.

In my experience, its often cheaper to find a game that has all of the features that you'd like instead of buying a bare bones machine and adding parts. Things like multi denomination, backlit reels, coin in, etc can all add up very quickly. For coin in you'd need a hopper, coin in assembly with optics, coin comparitor, and the piece that is on the door that allows you to drop in a coin. Since the majority of casinos are coinless, those pieces can be harder to find and harder to find typically means more expensive. Granted the parts wouldn't cost you $500 but they aren't cheap either.

Does that $600 machine include backlit reels? Multi Denom setup?

Those are the types of things you'd want to figure out before you buy a machine. Depending on your location, it may be more difficult to find machines.

I am with you, I prefer the 9" or 16" square tops over the round tops.  But I've noticed the round tops are also more expensive.

I am located in Illinois.

What I can't seem to find is a clear cut list of what ALL options are available to get on these S2000 machines.

It seems every vendor has their pref. as to how they refurb their machines, some don't include bill acceptors, most don't include coin in/coin out. Almost none of them list back lit reels.

What I don't want to do is buy a machine, then find out about all these other features that the one I bought doesn't have that I want.

I only want to play quarters on mine, so the milti denom isn't a big deal for me.

I did find a local guy that collects/refurbishes slot machines for a hobby, not as a business.   He has a round top Double Diamond 2-coin w/ coin-in/coin-out for $650 and I wouldn't have to have it shipped.    But it won't have a warrenty backed by a company, so it kind of makes me cautious.

I just found out threw him that there is also a 'audio upgrade' for these machines.

I kind of wish there was a list somewhere of all the options available for these machines..  It's FANTASTIC that these machines are built to be universal, I wish more products in this world were made like that.

There are really only a few options to add on to a machine. It sounds like you've picked out a theme so you are part of the way there.

Options could be
-Coin in/out
-Enhanced sound (a daughter board can be added which uses a sound simm for addtional sound capabilities)
-Multi-Denom (2 different types based on the display the machine has)
-Backlit Reels
-Toppers to make the top of the game look fancier
-Single line vs multi line (not really an add on but there are mutliple types of Double Diamond themes)
-2coin vs 3coin on a single line game (completely different glass set and base chip)

If the machine works, I wouldn't be too concerned about a warranty. If its the game you really want for a price you like, its probably a good investment. The base parts (MPU, motherboard, reels, etc) aren't crazy expensive so if you ever needed to replace something it wouldn't break the bank. If you do get a machine, make sure you order a set of chips (clear and key) for the game so that you'll have them in case you get any errors. Also make sure you get a jackpot reset key since the majority of errors involve using it at one point or another.

I know a guy in Northern Illinois that buys and sells as a hobby so it may be the same guy. If so you'd be in good hands.

As a side note, if you deal with one of the vendors here on the site you can ask the questions you need to and have coin handling or whatever added before you get the machine shipped. Chances are the machine you're looking at is on ebay through one of our member vendors. Get their number and call them
