I am building a Mame Cabinet that sits on a table or counter

It will be a one player mostly machine only one set of controls

have been looking for an interface for one player only have seen the Ipac 2 and all but as the machine will be only one player though it would be a waist to buy an Ipac for it

is there and interface for one player only or do i need to hack a gamepad to hook the buttons too!!!

also though about using a laptop as the system is there a way to turn it off and on other than hacking the power button or just unpluging it

like wiring a button to turn on/off the system

Thanks for your time

Few things are better than fixing an old game...

Use the ipac... it registers more simultaneous key presses than a stripped down keyboard interface.

yeah I prob. will  I have one in my upright mame and it works great was trying to keep the cost low on this one as I am only going to have one set of controls I thought I might find an interface for one player only but in the long run the Ipac might be the right choice

OK I am thinking about building a PE+ Mame cabinet that will only play the PE+ Roms through Mame

here is my dilemma I would like to be able to load credits onto it with the bill acceptor botton #6 on the keyboard

have the software ready to go and can't play games by pushing the credit (#5) button but as this will be mostly for the kids would like to put lots of credits on it and let them go

Is it possible I have a ROM that says it is the Set chip ROM but not sure how to use it could someone give instruction (step by step) if possible on the procedure.

Thank you for you time

ok got my PE+ mame cabinet almost built was working with the MAME software and noticed that there is a Set chip to activate a bill validator but I am not sure how to use it i know it is a rom file but how do I use it to activate the bill validator

I am going to add a home made bill acceptor that will accept fake money all it will do is accep any fake bill that goes into it and then add credits to the machine provided I can set up the virtual bill validator

put bill in no matter what it says basicly you will be able to put in any piece of paper or whatever and it activates a micro switch and the credits are added

that is the concept anyway when I need is someone to instruct me on the use of the set038 chip for mame to activate the Bill validator

any help will be great!!!!!

thanks

Lyzard

ps will post pic's and video when I get it working

I have encountered a prob. with one of the PE+ games in mame

when I try to use the set chip rom it tells me that "this version can't be used " is there another set chip other than Set38 that can be used with mame go enable the bill validator in some games

Set 15 and Set 90 are other two common ones.
