Ever dropped slot glass?

Just curious if anybody out here has any horror stories when it comes to breaking slot glass?  I would imagine a tech out on the floor could catch some pretty serious heat if a piece of the rare and more expensive glass was broken.

I haven't personally had any casualites with strips or glass, but I've had my share of broken EPROM legs and spraying Windex on a live monitor that blew out a game board (which some of you may remember with my old CEI poker game).

I left the casino last Friday having no broken glass only to show up Monday needing:
S2k slant reel glass, slant top avp side panel glass, s2k upright belly glass and a was BB1 belly glass.

Needless to say I had a chat with the casino gm about his lovely drop team. I think it's a game to them.

Once I got a machine when I opend the door the player tracking panel wasn't screwed in and the glass just droped as soon as I opend the door.

I purchased a Bonus Sizzling Sevens Round top glass from EBay a few years ago.
It arrived, without a box, sandwiched between two pieces of thin cardboard and a small amount of thin bubble wrap. 
I could tell by the way the package was flexing that the contents was history.
After I surgically removed the packing, I was shocked to see how bright, and MINTY clean the glass was... along with the hundreds of spider cracks running though it.

there was a ebayer out of VEGAS cant think of the user id at current time .. I WILL FIND IT AND POST IT !!
this goes back to fall of 2010 this guy had two accounts one his own & one  was his wife same pictures same last name .
he had sandals on most glass pictures could see his feet lol

He had piles of IGT game king glass
piles of BALLY game maker glass ..
in his auctions he sold all pieces for .99 cents to 2.99 he stated that it was not the best glass
some are better than others etc ..
 of course the shipping cost was where he made his money in more ways than one ?? cough cough hmmm hmm

so i purchased  40 pieces from him --he was going to ship them UPS GROUND ..
all 40 pieces were the same size glass in groups of 10  FOUR BOXES TEN ITEMS PER BOX .

so he shipped out four boxes UPS GROUND first two boxes arrived it was game maker upright top glass for the 7200 series ?
approx size of glass 8 x 16  inches?? two boxes total 20 items  .. i opened the first box in front of the UPS driver .
the glass all ten sheets taped together were broken in half in middle ?? box was in mint shape ??
second box was the belly glass 10 sheets taped together opened that box up those were perfect .. not greatest quality but not broken .

I DID NOT EMAIL OR CALL THE EBAYER AT ALL -TWO DAYS LATER UPS DRIVER CAME TO MY SHOP SAID I AM HERE TO PICK UP A DAMAGED BOX OF ITEMS

 I said i never called you guys ?? the driver said I have two more boxes for you  from same guy
I opened the first box same thing 10 sheets of identical size glass taped together and wrapped in clear plastic broken in half
THE TWO  BOXES AGAIN IN PRISTINE CONDITION ? opened the second box those ten sheets were fine .. same thing not the best quality glass ..

now two to four days pass the UPS DRIVER returns says he is here to pick up the TWO DAMAGED BOXES

I STARTED TO LMAO --I KNOW THE DRIVER OF UPS TRUCK -HE MAKES STOPS  DAILY TO MY SHOP . I SAID I NEVER CALLED FOR A CLAIM ??


I SAID GIVE ME NUMBER OF UPS FRAUD CLAIMS DEPT. PLEASE WAIT HERE WHILE I CALL SINCE YOU WITNESSED ME OPEN ALL FOUR BOXES &
 HOW THE BOXES WERE IN PRISTINE SHAPE ---BUT CONTENTS OF 2 OUT OF 4 BOXES DESTROYED -THAT HAD TO BE BROKEN PRIOR TO BEING PUT IN BOXES .
 I CALLED THEM TOLD THEM THE STORY . PURCHASED 40 PIECES OF GLASS
SENT IN FOUR BOXES UPS GROUND -gave woman four tracking numbers .. FIRST TWO BOXES ARRIVED IN PRISTINE CONDITION >>THE BOXES<<
THE CONTENTS OF ONE BOX GLASS  BROKEN IN HALF -CONTENTS OF SECOND BOX FINE .
 THE DRIVER RETURNED 2-DAYS AFTER FIRST DELIVERY TO PICK UP A CLAIM DAMAGED SHIPMENT -DROPPED OFF 2 MORE BOXES FROM SAME MAN
ONE BOX CONTENTS BROKE IN HALF AGAIN --BUT BOTH BOXES IN PRISTINE SHAPE ..
 
I SAID YOU DONT HAVE ANY RECORD OF ME CALLING --THE LADY AT UPS SAID  VERY NICE SAID NO SIR >> ITS THE SENDER WHO CALLED <<I SAID HOW DOES HE KNOW THAT THERE WAS ANY DAMAGE WHEN I NEVER CONTACTED HIM OR HIS WIFE  AND GAVE US THE TRACKING NUMBER OF BOXES TO PICK UP --THEN CALLED AGAIN AND SAID PICK UP THE SECOND BOX OF FOUR BOXES SHIPPED .
I SAID ONCE AGAIN -DO YOU HAVE ANY RECORD I CALLED --NO ITS THE SENDER SHE SAID ..

I SAID I HAVE HAD NO CONTACT WITH THE SENDER AT ALL --HOW WOULD HE KNOW WHICH TWO BOXES TO SUBMIT A CLAIM ON OUT OF 4 TRACKING NUMBERS ??
I THEN WENT ON TO ASK WHAT THE 4 BOXES WERE INSURED FOR ?SHE SAID ONLY THE TWO BOXES HE CALLED US TO PICK UP HAD THE EXTRA INSURANCE ON THEM
  THE OTHER TWO BOXES HAD REG UPS INS .THAT THE DRIVER WAS TOLD TO PICK UP ONLY THE TWO BOXES WITH DAMAGE  

THE UPS LADY SAID THE TWO DAMAGED BOXES WERE INSURED FOR 1000.00 EACH LOL

THE TWO UNDAMAGED BOXES JUST HAD UPS GROUND STANDARD INS

I HANDED MY PHONE TO UPS DRIVER SO HE TOLD WOMAN AT UPS CLAIMS THE SAME STORY & IDENTIFIED HIMSELF  HIS ID NUMBER ETC & HAD WITNESSED ME OPEN ALL FOUR BOXES
THAT HE AGREES WITH >>ME<<THE CUSTOMER THAT THE ONLY WAY THE ITEMS IN THE TWO CLAIMED DAMAGE BOXES -COULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED WAS PRIOR TO PACKING THE BOXES ..BECAUSE THE FOUR  BOXES WERE ALL IN MINT SHAPE ..

SHE HAD ME EMAIL HER PICTURES OF ALL THE CONTENTS THE EBAYER SHIPPED THE USER  USER ID OF EBAYER .I GAVE THE DRIVER THE FOUR EMPTY BOXES THAT WERE IN PRISTINE CONDITION --SHE SAID THEY WERE GOING TO CRIMINALLY PURSUE THE SHIPPER -FOR FRAUDULENT CLAIMS --THE WOMAN AT UPS EVEN SAID THE DUMMY
PUT 1000.00 INSURANCE EACH ON THE 2 BOXES OF GLASS HE BROKE -BUT WOULD NOT SPEND THE EXTRA 10.00 PER BOX AT THE TIME HE SHIPPED  FOR THE TWO BOXES HE KNEW WERE OK BEFORE SHIPPING .. SHE SAID THAT WAS THE RED FLAG RIGHT OFF .. ALSO SHE WANTED A COPY OF THE PAYPAL PAYMENT  WHAT I HAD SPENT ETC FOR THE .99 CENT GLASS AND 20.00 BUCKS A BOX FOR SHIPPING FOUR BOXES .

.. 3 MONTHS LATER I GET A CHECK  FROM UPS THAT COVERED MY TOTAL EXPENSE FOR SHIPPING OF THE FOUR BOXES &  COST OF THE 40 SHEETS OF GLASS & A EXTRA 100.00 INCLUDED FOR NOTIFYING THEM .A LENGTHY LEGAL LETTER SAYING THANK YOU FROM UPS . GOING ON TO SAY HOW MANY 1000'S PER YEAR OF  FRAUDULENT CLAIMS COSTING ALL SHIPPING CO'S MONEY ETC ETC ..

SO BOTTOM LINE I GOT SCREWED AT FIRST -BUT BEING HONEST TO UPS --- PAID FOR MY ENTIRE MONEY OUT OF POCKET TO THIS SHIT HEAD EBAYER FOR THE .99 CENT GLASS AND FOUR BOXES SHIPPED --I GOT TO KEEP THE 40 PIECES OF GLASS 20 THAT WERE GOOD NOT BROKE IN HALF -THAT WAS OK  NOTHING SPECIAL -& 100.00 BUCKS TO BOOT .

SO BEWARE IF THIS GUY & WIFE ARE STILL OUT THERE ?? I CAN DIG UP HIS USER ID IN NEXT FEW DAYS --IM SURE HE WAS IN BIG TROUBLE ..

Good story, Rocket!    Glad you shared...now that it's public, maybe it will help discourage someone from trying it. Just another case of people thinking they are "invisible" or that "no one will ever know".  

We filed a claim with USPS about 2-3 years ago for broken glass we received. Seems they have a standard answer as soon as they hear it is glass: Insufficient Packing, Claim Denied....wow, sure glad we bought insurance!

Donnie Are you sure the meds your on aren't effecting your memory ??  That are they have a different class of UPS drivers on the East Coast. On the West Coast I've yet to see a PRISTINE CONDITION box come out of a UPS Truck. In my opinion a UPS driver could fuck up a anvil with a rubber hammer.   

I did drop a piece of belly glass one time. Was installing it into a Game King, made one mistake it was a piece of glass for a 17" machine and I had a 19" machine. The glass fell straight through the belly glass frame and fell about 28 inches to a ceramic tile floor. NO Damage not even a chip and it fell hard.

THIS WAS 3 YEARS AGO  LOL..   I have not used UPS GROUND SINCE THAT DAY or allowed anyone to ship to me using UPS GROUND SINCE ..THE BOXES WERE PRISTINE .. I HAVE PICTURES SOMEWHERE STILL ..

JUST LAST WEEK I GOT 21 COMPLETE IGT S+ KITS 3-PER BOX FROM A FRIEND A 1000 MILES AWAY FROM ME --
VIA FED EX .. NOT A BIT OF DAMAGE ..

I think I would still have that machine if I didn't break  the glass.

I am embarrassingly part of the club too.   When I bought my very first machine (Williams Dotmation) I didnt know much about how the door latches apparently.  We had to turn it on its side to load it in the back seat of a truck and as we did that, the door flings open and the bottom corner and side slam on the pavement.  It did no damage to the door, but the glass was history and I was crushed.  I have come a long way since then though and LA Slots just happened to have a replacement glass!
