« on: November 10, 2012, 10:02:46 PM »

Seems like the payoff % (+credit) is too liberal/high. Is there a setting to make it higher or lower?
I'm new a this key chip (no.17? 31?), eprom, clear memory stuff.  pdf instruction file?
Thanks for any help

A photo of your board would help know what keychip would be needed and if the chips you have will have multiple percentages to choose from.  Post a photo and I can tell you which chip and send you instructions as well

I don't think I've ever seen a S 2000 game and SB chip that you can't change the pay percentages.

S2000 can also run an sb1000 chip which emulates the s+, so then the percentage is based on the ss chip instead of the sb chip

I'm new at this take apart stuff.  Just turn off the power, make sure I'm grounded, then pull mother board out?  Then after pic, make sure it's "seated" before power up?  Thanks, D

Does your statement mean, I'm in trouble/difficult area?

NOT AT ALL

Quick lesson it is possible the use a SB001000 base chip and a reel chip from a S+ in a S 2000 machine. IGT made very few 5 reel S+ machines. As for as the members on NLGs only two of these 5 reel machines are still in service and I have both of them. You have a 90 coin machine and I'm betting the base chip number you have is a SB100924

Quit being scared of messing up your machine, just turn off the power and using only the tips of your fingers pull the board out, no need to ground yourself, your pulling on a metal tray and it's grounded. If you pull the tray using your thumb, it's gonna hurt something awful when your thumb gets smashed, Post a picture of the board and we can go from there.

Personally I think you should leave the pay percentages alone, the machine may be paying out to much now but it will cycle out of that. ( Let me come over and play it and I know damn well it will quit paying out )

Buzz....I may be wrong (am I'm sure you'll correct me if I am....), but in thinking there are more than a couple of s2000  5-reel machines floating around....after all, we've never seen proof if he has a S+ or S2000, have we???.... wave

Ros,  I think Buzz was making the point that there are very few S+ five reel machines around. S2000 five reels machines are are, well, not a dime a dozen, but plentiful. Odds are extremely high he has an S2000 and a payback percent change is easy. Buzz was origionally refering to the earlier comment someone made that he may have a S2000 with S+ chips

Well, yes, and point taken. Yes, there are very few 5 reel S+ machines..but chances are, this machine is an S2000, that's a given....however, poor Doug just wants to change his payout.....can we just instruct him on how to key his machine????

Sorry, I just don't have it in me tonight....unusual, yes...Be back soon....

I will pull the board and post pic.
You're correct, I need to see if "cycle" as you say is down the road
I play for hours on my 1 cent slot and can't lose. Go to Vegas and on the same 1 cent slot, lose $20 in 10min (@$@$%^&). I was wondering that when they sell the slot to the public, they change the % (random no. generator?) to give you a false sense of security. Possible?
I'll be in Vegas this weekend "cycle" huh?  We'll see

Doug  A S 2000 percentage can be set from the mid 80s to around 97/98 percent using a key chip.  If I shop out a machine for a home user it will always be set to the highest possible pay. If you want a NO paying machine try a Tabasco, I have a 2 coin that is set at 98% and won't pay out diddly. ( Big Time Pay isn't much better ) Stop to think about it, I have a house full of NO paying machines !!!  I think they hate me.

We really need to know which  base chip you have in order to key the machine.

The probabilities are so varied.  Just to give you an idea.  On a 3 reel red white and blue 5 line you have to spin 10,000,000 times to get close to the percentage you set because of the randomness, but most people in home use have a little higher percentage set up than a casino

I'll play my slot a few thousand more times to verify a needed of a % change to lowering winnings.  (IGT s2000 model 96438300 mfg date 04/04, 5 reel, 9 line)
Thanks, Buzz, Roz, "bhinkley" Hope that the proposed % change, key chip, random/no./generator, reprogramming is within my range of capability. I do have help from a computer friend if you folks get out of my league.  Have a nice Thanksgiving, and as always, Stay Healthy and Wise.  Doug

You can check also what % is set to your machine.
Press the test button located on the PCB and navigate in the key chip menu (view only) to see the current %.

I get what you mean by "(view only)" current %.  I'll post results, and pics of PCB after a few thousand more plays to continue to test my theory of % of payoff being too high. Thanks for all your help! Hope the change in % if needed is easy, a.k.a. NOT A, keychip purchase, or programming beyond my newbie mind?  Hmmmmm

It looks like you are in the higher %. You can set it down up to 85-87% but you will need a key chip for this. Keychip 17 or keychip 31 (at least at my area, not at US) are the proper set chips for your machine.

Doug  Thanks for the pictures, you have the good stuff, SG000363 game chips and a 504 board. Get your hands on a Key 31 and a clear 97 and you will be in business

Now I need to ask you to do something I don't think your going to like. You need to remove the Green battery from the board. It's not needed for home use and tend to start leaking and damage the board.   http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=20865.msg169971#msg169971

Buzz, Is this the battery you want removed? Per another post>>"I did as you said Buzz, broke the battery loose from the tabs on the pos side and wiggled it until the neg side post broke clean at the solder on the board. I left the pos posts in the board"
