I had an S+ haywire that had an updated DBV200 and worked great until I sold it.  When the new owner got it home the game played fine with coins but when they use a bill it feeds in and then rejects.  I never had any problems before and am not sure what to tell him as far as trouble shooting the problem.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have them start by using only $1 bills and see if those work.

I'm the guy who bought the haywire from Doug.  It doesn't take any bills that I have tried $1,5,10 or 20's.  It sounds like it is cycling upon opening the machine and moving the red lever.  After the cycling the validator lights up and accepts the bill then spits it out.  Not sure what the next step is.  Also after an hour of play or so the quarter in the coin acceptor has to be readjusted in order for the machine to accept quarters.  Any help would be appreciated as this is my first slot machine.
Thanks,
Al

AL   NLG Welcome
I think you told us what's wrong with the BV.  If you push down on the RED lever and the rear of the BV moves up, the rear tabs are not in place. ( The RED lever should not move when pressed down) Read this thread for the fix.  http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4226.msg8620#msg8620

Pull the comparator out and look on the back side you should see a spring that attaches to the slide that holds the coin tight. If the spring is missing I think I can find one around here for you.  I've never done this but to get by until you get a spring, try using a rubber band.

You can also try adjusting the sensitivity of the comparator to make it more liberal in acceptance of coins.
