AVOS00000336-04
AVOS00000336-05
and
AVOS00000336-09

The only thing I know for sure is that the Alpha's are all Linux based OS's

I think the problem is that most people on NLG are like me, they don't know to much about them. The ones that
know will not share. If we are patient sooner or later info. on them will come out.

i'd love to help out more on this request but i don't know if i can!  loser when we in the biz replace software (especially OS's) it's not because we want to, it's because it has been revoked for use on our casino floor.  hissy fit we (operations) rarely know why a piece of software is revoked, we just have to get it replaced ASAP. the regulators for respective casino's probably don't even always know why software is revoked.  many times the reasons i've seen software be revoked is for some stupid incorrect meter incrementation for some player tracking system i don't even have; doesn't matter though, once it's considered revoked it has to be removed from the gaming floor through an upgrade, conversion or replacement or we face severe reprimands from the State Gaming Department.
as far as preferred version for the home market...your guess is as good as mine! Scratch Head i doubt it would make much difference at all but i would want the latest & greatest if i could get it! yes

i'm far from a Bally expert, they were banished from my casino floor for about 7 years and we still only have 14 total Alpha steppers and 14 total Alpha2's with few problems that we've dealt with, but i'll help when & where i can.  i do have a great Bally service tech who would take the time to help with any question i threw at him; feel free to pm or email me directly as i don't always find the time to visit the forum!  Duh!

Add me to the dumb club.  Got two, and foreign to me.  My OS cards seem to be newer, one an 08 and one an 09.  the 09 sure boots faster, by about two minutes.

I trust Coorslight to have everything figured out and teach us a class soon with all the Alpha fun he is having.  Yes, jealous.

What machines & games are you running in them? I have a Black & White quick hits 3 reel with an o5 in & it takes 10 min. to boot up.
Yes , Coors is a good man on these. He'll figure them out way before we can.

The 08 is in a 20" top LCD 3 reel Power progressive Rich & Famous.  Hrm, heard of someone else here getting one of those.  :-)

The 09 is in a 5 reel Diamonds And Devils.

Hell yes, Coors will be able to explain everything soon, but over a beer of course.  :-)

Best info I have gathered at this time is the OS is a direct reference to machine configuration.
Early models in 2006 (S9C's) 3 reel steppers used O/S 317-02 and game file ASGS9000C000-03 that's listed as a S6000 game converter for the S9000 platform. This meant that you could use a S6000 game in the machine.
This is similar to being able to use a S+ chip in a S2000 via the SB1000 chip as most newer platforms were designed to be backwards compatable.

To use the S6000 game you placed an expansion board in the CPU. This is the open port that you see on the CPU next to the on-board CPU power supply. Then you installed the U18 and U20 game chips from the S6000 game to be played. Also the BIOS chip must match the O/S version. This is in U16 on the CPU and I have had good luck with AVBPROD0R807-00

Then they came out with S9E that had the 20 inch monitor in the top box and could handle games up to 5 reel themes. The 317-02 OS and the same BOIS works on this platform but you must use Game Software supported for the 20" monitor. You will not be able to use any of the S6000 games with the converter software noted above.

I also have a few of the Alpha Elite V20's that are the video products. They will only run appropriate software for that platform. If you try installing a game from lets say from the SE9 it will  error that it does't find the reels when loading. Or a V20/20 will error that it can not find the top monitor.

In a nutshell I have found that game software needs to match cabinet configuration and OS doesn't seem to matter that much. The exception to this rule will be the newer games that run on 2GB OS and use the faster CPU

Nice looking machine  applause applause applause

Welcome to the club  wave wave

Now get yourself a piece of black rubber cove base from Home Depot or lowes and some contact cement and put it on that player tracking plate. looks great when done and blends right in with the machines black rubber components.

Tim,

Any thoughts on where to find a player tracking plate. I have a machine with that and the blue bill horn missing.
