Williams/United Shuffle Bowlers (Bowling Machines) - Proper Playfield Cleaning

For years I have swept/vacuumed the playfield area clean, occasionally waxed, then apply light coat of WD-40, wipe fairly dry leaving a light coat of WD-40, then apply a light coat of Sun-Glo Shuffle Powder.  The add power as required, up to about 10 times, then repeat the entire process.  Sun-Glo does offer wax and silicone, but was once told regular car wax and WD-40 was a much cheaper replacement, and not damage should occur.  To date, no problems, but just wondering.  Does anyone else have any input on regular upkeep?

I just purchased a Williams United Orion puck bowler and starting the restoration process.   I appreciate your information and hope to see responses that will help me as well.

Looking for a manual and schematic for my machine as well!

don,t use dw40 it will make wax sick to points over playfield

I have never experieced a wax buildup problem with the process listed above.

This processed was passed to me over 5 years ago from an old timer and has never produced the noted buildup results.

In fact, I think it is much the opposite.  I think the WD-40 breaksdown the wax and removes it.

I only use a cheap automotive (carnauba) wax.

The only problem I have seen is if you do not wipe the excessive WD-40 off after spraying the surface is the power may clump up.

So a lite to medium wipe down of the WD-40 after application, then apply a lite/even coat of power.

Again, I have never seen any build up of any kind.

If you get clumping from excessive WD-40, don't worry just keep playing and it will work itself out after a few games...

its like mixing sand and oil , it will messup stuff, we have 25 to 30 shuffles in bar,s and had a few use dw when they ran out of shuffle wax , we would have to drop ppan and clean the stuff out of rollover points , cheap car wax is best bet
