This question has come up with the fans in the Alphas. They are noisey and there are 11 of them. Are they all important in home use? and can I unplug a few of them to cut down on noise?  Answer DON"T!!

here is why with a scientific study be me   propeller propeller propeller propeller

I have three Alpha machines. All the same equipment inside. I have the American Original that I have gutted and cleaned every square inch of including each fan and every fan blade. I took a kitchen thermometer at the top vent of each machine after they have all been running and playing for one hour. My game room is at 68 degrees and outside it is 45 degrees. No heat vent in room to affect test. I placed the temp probe at the top fan behine the candle. I have all fans plugged in and running.

Attached are the results for the clean American Original. others to follow.

Bottom line...unplug all the fans you want because they are too noisey and do not take the time to disassemble your machine to clean it. wave wave wave wave I have plenty of parts to sell you !! You will need them..

THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE ANOUNCEMENT ON BEHALF OF ALPHAS WORLD WIDE !!!

Guys that unplug stuff like fan,s because of some noise , imo shouldn,t have a slot in their home , as cheap as  bally and igt is they won,t put those fans there if they weren,t needed   hell they could save 5 bucks a machine for everyone they didn,t install , Like coors showed it there for a reason

Tim  NO disrespect on anything I post here, but I'm boored and feel like  stir the pot / get cooking stir the pot / get cooking  I don't own a Alpha, have never owned a Alpha, and from what I've read on this forum I don't think I want to own a Alpha. That said it sounds to me like Alpha owners go into their game rooms and listen to the airplanes. I can see one advantage to the Alpha, if a fellows Wife gets pissed off he can go into the game room and the Alpha will drowned out her Bitching.       ( True story, I knew a guy that wore hearing aids, one day his Wife was pissed over something and he unconsciously reached up and turned  his hearing aids off, he told he he thought smoke was coming out of her ears.)

Now all your  "scientific study" tells me is a dirty fan and plugged vents will cause a increase in heat inside a machine. Using your numbers a clean machine will run at 83 degrees, dirty machine 96 and dirty with one fan missing 97. Now using your curve of 1 degree increase of temperature  for each disconnected fan, if you clean a machine and disconnect 10 fans the temp. inside a machine would only be 93 degrees. ( I realize that's a pretty silly remark ) I'm thinking the dirty machines you get come from a Casino and they must have been running that warm in the Casino, at what Max temp. can one expect a major heat caused failure. Now I ask you is it worth setting in a room full of airplanes to keep from replacing , say a power supply every so often ??

Steve Where in the world did you come up with the statement that slot machines are cheap ??  I would venture to say that a third of the brand new cars on the roads of this country today, cost less that a brand new slot machine. I can just see and hear the Bally salesman now, he goes into a casino and his sales pitch " here's a brand new Alpha, it only cost 25 grand, but we installed 11 fans to protect your investment, they cost us a extra 40 dollars because 3 fans would have done the job at a cost of 15 dollars.

Not sure what the big deal is here. A Bluebird2 runs at a normal temperature of 105, as reported by the built in temperature sensor.  These machines were designed to run hot.  Testing exhaust air is not a scientific test.  An analogy to this is like testing your body temperature by the air being expelled out of your mouth instead under your tongue or up your blow hole.
