Question about s2000 1270 boards

Now please forgive me guys as I am not "technical" just doing some research to help my technicians... on the 1270 boards the varta battery that seems to give people issues.... do you guys have opinions on if we desoder the old battery and replace it with a brand new battery. Do you think that it could help with some of the issues. The issues we are facing is when we go to shop out a machine.... lets say its done ready to go and shipped out... when the customer gets the machine we are getting a lot of "netplex link down" and typically we have been biting the bullet and sending them a new board. Any help is appreciated.

Personally, I'd recommend replacing those batteries on anything you're gonna sell. Batteries are cheap and a simple replacement.  Machine won't run without a good one. Other option of course would be to swap out with 500 series boards and sell the 1270's as spare parts

I agree with cowboy Chris...
By the time you get those auctioned out machines, the batteries in them have had their run.
It's even a worse case scenario when the machines have been sitting for awhile
as that's when whatever juice is left in them is totally used up
and causes board errors or heaven help ya - MPU corrosion rot.

Hi, sorry to but in on this post but I have bin having the same issues, and finally got a chance to test a couple of boards that were giving me the same problem. And the batteries tested at about 2.9-2.8 is that low enough to cause an isssue? Also I have bin useing key 97 to set everything back to default. I know it isn't the correct ram clear for the board, but it has always seemed to workout for me in the past, could that be my problem?
