Hello everyone,

First, let me say thanks for all of the information here on the site.  I've been spending many, many hours learning so much about my new slot machine.

Speaking of that machine (an IGT Volcano), I have some questions I hope someone can help me out with.  First, my chips are SP495 and SS4427.

The light for the reels isn't working.  I've tried putting a new bulb and a new starter in there, but still nothing.  It's driving me crazy because the machine would look so much better with the reels lit.  On my machine, the reel light is a 14" florescent bulb and it sits at the top of the front door.  I can't tell what is broken- is it the light fixture or the black box and the starter fixture?  How can I find that out?

I ordered a new light fixture, but the plug isn't the same as what I need.  In fact, the plug for this particular light doesn't even match the other two light fixtures' plugs that are in the machine.  Those have a two-pronged end.  The reel light in my machine has a four-pronged end.  The new fixture I got?  It has a four-pronged end...but it's the socket-side!  I hope I'm describing this okay.

Is anyone selling the fixture and/or the black box with the starter mechanism that would fit properly for this?  I could start splicing wires, but if its the black box & starter that's busted, re-wiring won't really help me.

The second quick question I have is regarding the machine itself.  I'm a bit confused- with the machine I have (I believe it's a Type-3 from what I've read), what games would I be able to change it to?  I think someday I'd like to buy a kit to change it over to a different game, just to give me the option.  But, is there a listing of games that would work with my machine type?  Of course, I know I'd need to buy different chips, as well.

And finally, my machine has a bell installed in it.  But, it's not hooked-up to anything.  In fact, I can't find the place where I would plug it in.  I read the FAQ section here that describes it, but the motherboard photo that's posted doesn't look like mine.  Could someone maybe post a photo of where I should plug it in if they have a similar machine?

I know these are very specific questions, but my machine would really be perfect if I could get the light to work.

Thanks and hope to hear back soon!

I bought new ballasts at the home depot.  They are about $7.  I replaced all 3 just to get rid of the humm.  The part number is 89711.

Regarding your question of your machine being a type 3 Volcano and game changes.  As far as I know, Volcano is the only game made that is a type 3, much like Tidal Wave was all they made as a type 6 game.  But no worries, to change games you have to change the SS chip.  In this case, you will also need to replace the SP chip with something like a SP1271 that will run most games.  So nothing there to stop you from changing games.  I think it's fun to have several games so you can swap them every so often.
