There is a small coin type battery under the I/O board, you need to install a new one and power the machine back up.

Hook up a old computer keyboard up to the upper portion of the PCB turn the game back on and when that screen comes up, press F1 and the game may cycle and come up to the "Loading" screen and be ready for play, if not then press delete and set the time and date and save your changes.

Here are the steps:

Press delete to enter set up
Load set up defaults (press enter)
(Y) for yes
Select standard cosmos setup, then press enter
Set date and time
Scroll to "hard disks, all types and modes and set them to "auto"
They should read, 1. drive A 1.44m 3.5in
                          2. drive B = none
                          3. video = ega/vga
                          4. halt on = all but keyboard
Verify all settings and hit esc.
Press F10 key
Press "y" for yes
Press enter, unplug your keyboard and the system will finalize and boot up for you to play

Primary slave/none should not be an issue. turn the machine off and back on again after setting everything and it will go through @ 2 minutes of loading everything up and the "MAXX" screen should come back up then the "Loading" screen should come up and the the bar should fill up and go to ready to play mode.
