I figured I'd try out this new-fangled moving picture gadget to show you what I'm messing around with on my work bench this week. I never linked a YouTube before so this is kind of an experiment too.

A friend of mine has a machine for sale in his shop that uses those flip cards -- I'll try and snap a picture of it next time I'm there.  It's an older game, I think by "Games of Nevada", but I'm not positive.

Thanks for sharing this!  applause

Wow, that is COOL!! It's like looking at an old mechanical "digital" clock on steroids! It even sounds like the "cards" are being shuffled when they flip.

Thanks for posting the video. applause applause

PS: Can't give you another karma yet. Only 2 a day. bawling

Good call, knagl. A review of the archives uncovered this water-damaged newspaper cutting of a Games of Nevada product launch at the IGBE show many years ago.

That's a Dale Pokermatic, the first automatic paying poker machine of all time. It's 1960s, not 70s. I've got one of them, though I paid rather less for it than the opening bid in this auction. I see this one is non-working, so good luck to the buyer (if any) - the chips it uses are RTL, the first logic ever made, 30 pcbs worth of them. They've been out of production so long that they're not only unavailable, but it's extremely difficult even to find the data sheets for them. It's a fine museum piece, but non-working... hmmm... I'd offer $100 for sentiment but that's it.

My Dale Pokermatic (fully working) and its electronics package:

Yep, that's the one my friend has -- it has a little monitor screen in the upper-right corner of the cabinet, just like the one in the clipping.  I'll try and get some photos of it in the next few days.
