What model Aristocrat slot was made in 1997? I am having problems with my machine, and would like to find out what model I have, so I can find a manual to try to solve my problems. There is no model number on my ID plate.

Look on your MPU board for the model.
It will be like " MK IV or 540 or 2.5  "
Post a picture of the MPU and we will be
able to point you to the help you need.

Thank you, for your response.
Below, is a picture of my board as requested. The information on it that I was able to find on it, is as follows:
MK 1V Main Board
Assy 40162
Issue B01
Rev 6
The immediate problem that I have is:
Message: Last Game played
34 Coin Validator Fault.

I also have other issues, but right now, my main concern, is to correct the 34 error problem.
Any idea, how I might do that?

Jerry

You have a Aristocrat MK 4 540 slot machine.
Here is the manual . I would check that the plugs are plugged into the right sockets.
The MK4 I have had the same problem and I found the plug for
the coin acceptor plugged into the wrong port on the back plane.
Make sure the ribbon cable from the coin acceptor is plugged it to the J13
on the back plane.

Hi proten,
Thank you for your help! I sure do appreciate it.
I messed with the machine again last night, and I tried to disconnect all of the harnesses to the coin optic unit, and somehow, I managed to get the game running again. I'm not sure what I did to accomplish that though. This morning, I started to look at the manual that I downloaded from you, and tried to get the menu/history/options up. I turned the audit switch like it said to do, and the original screen with all of the symbols was still there, but all that changes when the audit key is turned on, is a message comes up under the rectangular box above the reels that says....Current Credit   0. Then, when I press the change button, the symbols are gone, and below the rectangular box the following is shown.... Current Credit 0 and ....No Gamble History. Pressing the change button again, just toggles back to the previous page. Also, when I first boot up the game, the green arrows on the bill acceptor that indicate that the bill acceptor is ready to accept bills.....do not come up. The only way that I have been able to get the arrows functioning, is to momentarily disconnect the wiring harness that goes on the side of the bill acceptor. Then it will accept bills, but only $1 and the really old $20 bills that you don't see in circulation these days. Why is that? I mean, about the arrows not coming up when the game is first turned on. I know that there is probably some way to get the $5, and $10 bills to be accepted, if I could get into the options or by replacing some chip. Other than that, the game play is normal.

I would check the wiring to the two switches to make
sure that the wiring is correct on the switches.

The front switch should reset jackpots and the back switch
should get you into the audit menus.
You will only need to turn both switches at
 the same time when resetting.
Read through the manual to get a feel of how the machine works.
You say it does play now but wont take bills?
Here is the manual for the Bill Validator.

When trying to access the audit, I ONLY turned the audit key (and left it turned). This does not appear to function properly, for some reason.

As far as not accepting bills....when I first boot up the game, the green arrows on the bill acceptor that indicate that the bill acceptor is ready to accept bills.....do not come up. The only way that I have been able to get the arrows functioning, is to momentarily disconnect the wiring harness that goes on the side of the bill acceptor. Then it WILL  accept bills, but only $1 and the really old $20 bills that you don't see in circulation these days. Why would I have to disconnect the harness just to make the green runway arrows work? At the moment, I am not really concerned with which bills it will accept. I just want the bill acceptor to function when it is powered up without having to disconnect that harness to make it do so. The manual does not give me a do this, to make it work answer. Things are too technical for someone that has never had an Aristocrat machine before, unless you are a technician. It's kind of like reading something in Chinese.

But the game is taking coins and playing properly - Right?
Where are you located? There may be some one close that
can give you some help in person.

Send him a PM and I know he could help more than me.
He is the one that helped me with my MK 4 and MK 6s .
