Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a Cigar kit from Blueridgeslots, I'm just wondering if you have any tips on eliminating the backlite reel feature on an s2000 machine. A fellow member said I had to disconnect the I/O board or something like that but not 100% sure which ones to disconnect. Do you have any idea? Send me some pictures of which ones I have to disconnect so I'll know in advance when I get the kit.
Thanks in advance.

To disable, just unplug the harness that goes to the front connector on the cabinet i/o card which is mounted on the right side of the MPU housing below the reels.  Or the 4 pin power connector on the backlit controller board on back wall right side even with the handle mech. six inch square metal box with three or four connectors. Either one will get the job done. If you still need pictures let me know.

Easy part is unplugging the power lead from the backlight controller on the lower back wall of the machine right under the reel shelf. Hard part will be fitting the reel strips in if they are s+  model strips. S2000 models use a slightly narrower strip

Thanks Coorslight115 and Cowboygames K+ to you both for posting. +1 (Karma, or whatever)
Tim, I'll probably have to look at a picture to know which one's which.
Thanks!

Foster has stated in the past that the non-backlit S2000 reels use the identical baskets as the S+, if reel strip fitment is a concern.

The easiest way to go from back lit to non back lit reels is just to get a set of regular S2000 reels

No need to unplug anything that way
Use which ever set of reels needed when you do a game change.
That is what I do when go from back lit strips to regular strips.

Just unplug the harness into the front of the Cabinet I/O card
a set of S2000 reels can be had for under $50 and that is fleebay I suspect vendors on here have them priced about the same.

I like the power plug idea for the simple fact that it reduces that amount of power consumption by the machine.

No one charges THAT much for non-BL reels, do they? We're $40 with Free Shipping! The shipping costs $12-15...I dunno offhand what it would be to Canada, but we can check if you're interested. PM or email me...

Last time I had looked a while back a few on ebay listed for 29.99 plus S/H so that is where I came up with the under $50 but I also figured that you or RudysDeals would come in lower

So if I had a Cigar s2000 SB chip in the game, will it still work even when the backlit controller is disconnected? I think they guy told me that the SB won't support backlite reels

As long as it's the right chip as far as being 2 or 3 coin or whatever you'll be fine

IGT Cigar is SB100001 2CM game this is the SB that's coming with my new kit from Blueridgeslots. Hope it works. If not I could just post a WTB for the reel baskets but I rather disconnect the BLcontroller board and the reels will still register. (fingers crossed)

Also K+ for knagl, CVslots and Foster for all the help. CHEERS!
