Don't know why, but this first counter runs continuously and it's very noisy!   Normal??

If you look closely you may notice that the numbers are not turning ....so it keeps running. The gears inside are bad

hmmm, yeah, they're running...very fast. 
Is there anyway to disconnect?  Tried to unplug and got the error.

There's a simple bypass for those meters. What you're seeing/hearing is your meters never getting caught up to your game play. Do a topic search under "bypassing the meters on an S2000". Takes less than 5 minutes

tried this ... error still exists.  9 and 10 on pin are both listed as grounds in the wiring diagram so I don't think this would do anything.
Article says Black/Orange and Brown/Grey wires...9 and 10.   Mine are brown/grey, black/white.  ??

..... UPDATE...

Hmmmm Nevermind.  It worked after reset!  No more meter/noise...
