Newbie: Triple diamond questions

Just picked up a triple diamond for my wife.  I'm a pinball guy, so this is pretty foreign to me.  Poking around, I can't seem to find an easy solution to my questions...and hoping someone can assist!

My wife wants to know if we can set the machine to build more than three credits at a time. 
She also wants to know if we can set the machine to build credits instead of immediately paying out into the hopper.

Yes you can get a chip to allow you to drop coins and have them add credits to the credits meter, it is a SP1137 (you will need a Set 86 chip to go with it)

The Easy way press the cash out button before you play so it lights up.
The other way is to change a setting so it is basically set so that wins go to credit meter unless the win will take it over 400 or 1000 credits (your machine could be set to either one but most likely set for 1000.
I think you have a SP1271, please confirm. if it is a 1271, the jackpot reset key is needed to gain access to that part of the settings.

I wouldn't go so for as to calling it weird, everything about this machine looks normal except for the BV ( bill validator ) This type machine has always been called a non embedded S+ ( no BV )  I guess now we can throw that term out the window. Heck IGT may have made a whole bunch of machines like this it's just that I've never seen one, but then again they don't let me out of my padded room very often.

I just gotta ask, is there a door on the outside by the handle where you remove the paper money ??

Interesting, the cabinet is pre 1993, as evidenced by the board mounted on the left cabinet wall.  Looks like one that did not come with a bill acceptor, the embedded ones started in 1994 when the board was relocated to the back left wall and they started using the updating casting.   I bet the bill acceptor was added.  Usually, these early S-Plus games without the embedded bill acceptor would have the bill acceptor mounted outside on the lower right of the cabinet.

I take it your not using that Bill acceptor.  If it works you would get multiple credits racked up, or coins dumped from the hopper if the Cash/Credit button is not set to Credit.  
If you are using the acceptor, you must have a key and know were the bills are stored.

If you are just using quarters, the only way to rack up credits (beyond 3 with your current game chip) is to Win and have the Cash/Credit button illuminated (set for Credits).  As previously stated by Foster.

I talked to Joey this morning and he said he's seen these BV when he was a Tech in the casinos.  think what he said was the BV is aftermarket and made by Western Money and are a real pain in the A$$.

Foster kind of ans. your first question. In a nut shell if you change to a SP1137 game chip you can drop just as many coins as you feel like and each one will go to the credit meter. Second part of your question, the machine can be set up for all wins to go to the credit meter and the only time a coin is paid out is when the cash out button is pressed.

Until you get the machine set a different way, try this after powering the machine on, press the cash out button, if the light bulb is any good it should light up and all wins will go to the credit meter.

Hey that's not a bad looking machine, I wouldn't mind having one just because it's different.
