I expected to see a lot of different things inside my VP machine, but a plastic tube?  This ones got me stumped. Ok!  What's it for?

I've seen these in Megatouch games and always wondered the same thing as to what their purpose was.

Universal slant tops had the tubing and a plastic jar with a hole in the lid to catch stray liquids. That is what it is for, to catch spilled drinks.

Picture of two of the plastic jars.
Had to really clean them up!  knockout    Made good storage containers for bulbs, screws, etc.

my slant top game maker had a drainage tube in the coin tray that led to a plastic bottle also...from the looks of mine, when i first got it, nobody seemed to want to empty it, of course i wouldnt have wanted to either...pretty nasty!!!

Mostly used on slant-top machines...It is a tube that hooks up under the coin tray and is to drain any liquid that might be spilled into it...If it was not there and someone somehow split there coveted drink, it would pool up and your change would be rather nasty to claim, not to mention the overall mess...The tube runs down to a catch bottle the the attendant could empty...

I'm going to have to look closer, I thought it was just sitting there at the top of the slant where the buttons are.  Maybe in the past it actually had some sort of connection to a larger catch tray.  On the bottom side again, it's just sitting there, but may be open to the coin tray.  But on an upright?  I don't know where you could pour a drink where tube or no tube it wouldn't make a huge mess.  I could see if you had one on a slant top in the bottom of the coin tray.  I can only imagine what's gone in those over the years.  I'll keep looking, maybe I'll find Jimmy Hoffa under the attandant candle  Cry Laughing
