Has anyone tried this? I have a IDE adapter with a flash memory
card. I will try and load a CD ROM onto the flash. Will be interesting
to see if that works.

Ok thanks!
yes i used that *exact* same setup, but with a 1gig compact flash drive.
Tried it both as "master" and "slave". but it did not work. It was easy
to copy the CD ROM to the flash drive, but the game did not like it.

Too bad as i was hoping using a compact flash drive would speed
up the boot time.

Resistance is futile. You will be emulated.

Questions for you about your "exact" setup:

1.  Did you use Transend brand or a known fixed disk mode flash?
2.  Did you use a linux #dd command to clone the CD?
