I have a Game Maker with a touch screen where the touch points are not consistent.  I have calibrated the screen and it works fine when the door is open but when I close it the touches are off a bit sometimes.  The only game that it really matters on is Keno.  When I touch a number sometimes it will select the wrong number.  If I open the door and hold the door button in, it will work accurately, but when I close the door it will usually select the number next to it if I am on the extreme right or left of the screen but is fine when I touch a number in the center.  It will sometimes work fine, but acts up about half of the time with the door closed so it is an intermittent issue.  I am assuming something is creating interference when the door is closed.  Could this possibly be a grounding issue?  It is very annoying and I would really appreciate some help on this. Thanks in advance.

I had one machine with a similar issue. I'm sure it was the controller but I was able to get a better calibration by touching the chrome door surface with the other hand during the calibration process.
Also when selecting numbers on Keno, is it more accurate if you do the same? and touch the chrome.

yes a good body to machine -----to floor ground is always recommended when calibration of any touch screen ..if that does not work try the new  controller ..

if it has the BALLY ORIGINAL CRT tube display .. TOSS  IT !!! you will never get the touch screen off  the tube .. without half the tube with it .. lol  they epoxied them on at factory .

not double sided tape as many ..

Thank you for all the replies.  Neonkiss, I tried touching the chrome with one hand while selecting numbers with the other and it always works accurately when I do.  Then it becomes less accurate when I am not touching the chrome.  Any suggestions as to why that is?  The controller?  Also, Rocket had suggested replacing the whole display.  It does have the original CRT in it.  Is there somewhere I could get a drop in LCD display with the touch overlay on it?  Thanks again, I really appreciate all the help!

Ceronix makes the drop in LCD's with touchscreen.
They are very nice and just plug and play.
The prices are on the high side. Last time I bought they were just under $500.
BUT they do come with a no questions asked 3 year transferable warranty.

when you touch the chrome while calibration is done you are getting a good connection that's why it works better . i actually did not say get rid of the CRT ..I JUST MENTIONED . DONT TRY TO GET THE T/S OFF THE TUBE .. it wont happen ..

I personally like the CRT DISPLAYS its a matter of opinion . about 3---4 years ago a member posted that he had replaced about 20 or 25 game makers with LCD DISPLAYS .

I said then and will say now again for the dealer trade cost of a used upright game maker you could buy almost 3
CRT TUBE DISPLAY  machines used for the cost of ONE NEW LCD DISPLAY .

Hey,

You said "usually select the number next to it if I am on the extreme right or left of the screen".

Have you tried expanding the size of keno screen image to fill more of monitor and recalibrate?

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I did adjust the size of the picture on the screen before recalibrating.  As long as it will work ok if I just touch the chrome when selecting numbers, that is good enough for me.  I was just curious about the LCD replacements and price.  $500 is a little too much for something like that.  The picture on mine is actually very good with barely any burn but it does have some jitter sometimes.  Does anyone know where I could get a cap kit for this monitor as well as replacement pots?  The pots seemed a little sensitive, so I am assuming a cap kit and replacing some of the pots should take care of the jitter.  I really appreciate everyone's help on this matter.  This is my first piece of casino equipment.  I have been collecting arcade and pinball machines for years and decided to try a Game Maker.  It is a lot of fun, I live near Atlantic City and remember playing these there in the 90's when they came out.  I also made another post about adding a bill acceptor to my machine.  If any of you would like to chime in on that, that would be awesome.  Thanks again!!!
