I recently purchased an S2000 5 reel Triple Stars 2 cents demon slot. I would like to change the slot over to 5 cents. What exactly do I need to make this happen.

Thanks

Congrats on your new machine! I am guessing it is just a single denom machine now? Meaning 2c is the only option you can play?

If so, you can change the denom to 5c rather easily and won't need any new equipment, just a Clear chip and a Key chip.

Whoever you buy the Clear and Key chips from will have instructions for you (or, we can always help here). You will basically need to reprogram the machine to tell it is a 5c machine now, and set all the other parameters while doing so.  Not too tough, just takes common sense really.

If you wanted to change to a Multi-Denom machine (where you get to pick from up to 4 denoms, (i.e.1c, 2c, 5c, 10c), then you would just need a Multi-Denom display, a GX1 Version chip, and the Clear and Key chips.

Thank you for the reply. I may just change it over to 5 cents and add the coin option. When changing the slot over to 5 cents, will the bill validator change as well or will I have to reprogram?

If you add the "coin" option, you may need some parts, you'll have to look in your machine (or post a pic). Most coinless machines do not have the coin parts (coin head, coin comparitor. Hopper, etc) removed.

When you tell the machine it is a 5c machine, the validator will give the correct number of coins per bill. When you do the initial setup after the clear, the machine will detect the bill validator. Worst case, you enable it the menus.

I would suggest you read thought the S2000 menu document that's on here to get an understanding of what options you will encounter in the menus. I will try and find it for you and link it.

Here's the S2000 menu document....

Thank you for the great info! Does the Clear chip and Key chip have specific numbers? I've seen a bunch of chips and it seems there's about 10 to choose from.

Note, I'm not sure you will need to preform a clear to make this change.  Keep in mind, it is good to have a clear chip handy if you are ordering a set of chips.

I changed my machine from quarter denomination to dollar denotation just by using my keychip.  Make sure there are no credits on the machine when you make the change.  Try to set the "Coin Denomination" to the desired value.

The reason you sometimes need a clear when changing denomination is if you have to change the "Accounting Denomination" setting.  The "Coin Domination" setting can not be a lower value than the "Accounting Denomination".  Because your machine is a 2 cent machine, I would guess your "Accounting Denomination" is already set at the lowest 1 cent setting...

I was going to mention that, but if he has a single denom version chip then I believe a clear will be necessary. Don't remember for sure Scratch Head

You only need a clear if you are setting the player and game denomination lower than the current accounting denomination. Otherwise only need a key chip and it has to have NO credits on machine when you try.

Yes, Coors is correct, if you need to RAISE the denomination, only a key chip should be needed.  To lower the denomination would require a clear.

Single denom version chips don't have separate accounting and player or game denoms

If it is single denom game you will need the clear chip. (No credits on game)
I had to use one changing from. 05 to .25 Key chip did not allow the change.
Key will only work if game has multi denom capability.
