S+ payout tones- Can the number of dings per coin be changed ? Mine is current set to one ding for every two credits. Can that be changed in the programming to a ding per credit ?

Thank you for your help

It can't be changed, but I'm pretty sure it's one ding per coin out on all of my S+ machines.  At the same time, however, I guess I've never really paid close attention.  Anyone care to share their experience with their S+ machines as to how many dings you get when it pays out coins?

Thank you guys for the great information. My Serria Silver S+ dings once for even two credit  (two dings for fours credits and five dings for ten)
Since yours are working on a single credit makes me wonder if this is an option setting or an option in the set chip.
Can some one confirm which one or if I just have a flaky old S+.

Thanks again for any information

As Jay and I both posted above, it can't be changed.  Not sure why your machine is acting the way it is, but it's always been one ding per coin out on every S+ machine I've ever seen or worked on.

If you care to post the SP chip you have in your machine, I'll be happy to point you in the direction of the PSR (Program Summary Report) for that chip, which lists all of the available option settings for the machine.  There are directions here on how to determine the SP chip in your machine.

it sounds like the coin optics on the HOPPER is dead or funky not recognizing coins as they pass the optic on way out if the ding is on payouts ??or the hopper knife is set a little to high so the coin is passing out but not getting registered on the optics .

if its dinging every two x's on a coin drop i would clean the optics below the coin comparitor .. it sounds like the coin in optics and the coun out optics could both be to blame .. my two cents

If the coin out quantity matches the correct amount of credits before cashing out, then the optics are working correctly.  no

Do you get the proper Single "Ding" for each Coin-IN?

NEXT
LETS SKIP THE DING DING FOR A MOMENT ..

first off lets have him tell us how many coin in game it is ?? 1-coin -2-coin 3-coin 4-coin 5-coin or ??

lets see what his answer is on the display of coins when one coin is dropped does it register one coin ?

then on coin out lets see what his answer is if 30 credits are on machine and he cashes out does he get 30 credits or 60 credits out ?

His begining explanation is "very vague" thats why i suggested the two areas to look at .

i agree if the coin out credits equal the amount paid out indicate the coin out optics on hopper are working correct .

>>>but he is saying its not indicating a correct "DING" >>>FOR COIN IN<<<  so with that said it goes back to "COIN IN OPTICS"
the other thing none of asked is what does the DISPLAY READ ? WHEN DROPPING A SINGLE COIN IN DO ??
DOES IT REGISTER  "2" CREDITS ON DISPLAY FOR ONE COIN IN DISPLAY ??

if thats the case its a optic recognizing  problem of coin intake .
jury is out pending more info lol

I understand the confusion.  I completely agree with you that a bit more clarification is needed.  Since he started the question with "S+ payout tones- ..." , It was my understanding that he was referring only to the Coin
out and not the coin-in.   You are also correct that we need to know if each coin in AND each coin out is being properly counted by the display.

I just realized what he's saying. He's not talking about coins out, he's talking about credits being added to the meter on a win. If he hits a winning combination of 10 coins, the machine only dings five times as the 10 credits are added to the credit meter.

In my experience, that's pretty typical, although some SP chips count up the credits faster than others. I'm not sure, however, if some of them are more precise with the dinging than others -- I never really cared to be honest.

You may be right indeed!  Very difficult to say for sure with my S plus.  Even though mine has the 10 MHz board, the credit "dings" so damn fast It's practically imposable to count the "dings", even on low paying (6 credit) wins.  On my 16 MHz machine, forget about it!

Thank you very much for all of the responses.
I really  feel bad for the lack of clarity in the post.

The machine accurately counts coins in and out.
The credit meter as well as the dispensed coins from the hopper are correct.
The MPU is a 10 MHz board.

I do agree the payout is really fast.

I am a real newbie to slots so I do apologize if my post seem awkward.

This is just a game room machine. My wife and 5yr old wanted the payout to take longer so they felt the archived something.
If changing it is not an option that's fine

Thank you again

Please bear with me I'm expect two S2000"s next week and I may need some help adding toppers and possible progressive signage.

Hi Jimmy-

Here is a link to the PSR for the SP1271 chip in your machine.

SS4784 is a chip for a 3-coin Triple Diamond game, not a Sierra Silver game.  Are you sure that you have SS4784 in there?

It was an SS4608 ttth

Thank you very much for the help

I have one more question - can I change a 2 coin machine to a 3 coin?

I'm assuming I would need to change the SP chip to do so?

You are correct.  Reel chip changes
Game chip remains the same.

You will need to Change glass and reel strips.

Yes, you can do so, but you change the SS chip, not the SP chip.  The SS chip contains all of the paytable information for the game, including how many coins it takes.

If you're not familiar with it, check out the S+ game bible at http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/ .  It lists most of the available SS chips for most of the S+ games created.

In order to change from a 2-coin to a 3-coin Sierra Silver, you'd need to get a 3-coin SS chip, and also you'd need to change the glass that shows the paytable to a 3-coin glass.  The reel strips are identical between the 2-coin and 3-coin versions, so no need to change those.
