How do I tell if I have a 7000 or 7200 Gamemaker?

How can I be sure what model I have between a 7000 and 7200?  Is it from the small sticker on the CPU board?  The Model and serial number on the case don't seem to align to this nomenclature.

I am interested in upgrading my display to LCD and need the info.  Thanks

Mike,

An easy way to tell is how the cash can is removed. If it is an upright slot and you remove the cash can from the side of machine, it's a 7000. If you have to open door to remove, it's a 7200.

The board says 7000 on a sticker.  The coin hopper comes out from the front with the door open.  The dollar changer cash comes out from the side thru a door/lock....  So what version do you think I have?  Thank you!!

From your description, its a 7000 model. However the same board is used in the model 7200. The 7200 was developed for single dedicated games with multiple eproms, and 12 button decks, but 7000 games work too.

I think I have a 7000 also, but would like to upgrade to play some of the newer games.   Is there an easy way to do this on a second board?

7000 and 7200 have basically the same game board. the upgrades consist of changing the mains (M-O/M-1) and graphics chips (G-0,G-1)
the game chips on the game maker use 512 and 1mb chips,  (chip size depends upon the complexity of the game)  each P- chip on the game maker board represents a game, unless you are using a dedicated game like cash encounter or platypus etc. or game magic game which uses a hard drive.
since the game maker doesn't have a checksum eeprom in the motherboard, you could have and change out separate boards without the machine recognizing the difference.
if you just want to change out games, you would pull and replace the game chip(s), then insert a clear chip in socket p-10 clear and reset options.
