I have checked the door optics and they are lined up correctly, ( even tried wiggling the door while reels were spinning) the 3rd reel is a little close to the plastic at the bottom of the reel glass but I can't see it touching it during a spin, the reels are not touching anything above them either. I does not happen every spin but it does happen way too often. Anything else I can check?

There is a set of 363's on Ebay right now, for like only 10.00 or so.  awesome deal!  Gotta love 363's, it's all I put in anything anymore.

I recently had similar issues it drove me crazy. The issue that bothers me is the closure MB error you are getting. Mine was doing the same.
I tried SG and SB chips reseating all chips and still had this intermittent problem. I swapped machines and the problem followed the MPU.
I finally solved it with a new MPU. Not sure why this worked but it has been tilt and error free for about a month.
I started like you did messing with the door optics but the problem kept getting worse as time went on. The MPU acted normally other than the tils and closure MB.
I'm still trying to find out what the issue is with the MPU and I haven't given up on finding what is wrong with it. I'm looking at possible trace damage by where the green battery was but haven't gotten back to looking at it.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem and it progressed to the point where it would come up with bad ram errors so I swapped ram chips. Fought it for about 6 months before the MPU eventually to a crap on me. New MPU with the same chip set has been working great for a year now. Mine was a 504 MPU

Mine was also a 504 board. New board and all the original chips with no errors just like cowbow said.
Acts like a capacitor going bad on the MPU board, that's why it's a slow death. I may change them out and see what happens.

I had similar issue not long ago, it ended up being the MPU. clearing, keying, changing any of the chips made no difference.
was randomly getting the M closure, sas progressive down, and if reels happen to be spiing at the time a reel tilt.

since i was getting the sas progressive down as well thats how i narrowed to the MPU (I have SAS progressive enabled BTW)

the sas progressive down will show when there is no progressive info recieved from Host in 5 seconds, and it doesnt even show up when i open the doors normally so it appears mpu was just going hatwire at times

Here is my two cents worth of experience. I had a machine that would only work with the green battery on the board. If you put a board in there without the green battery it would reel till all the time. As long as it had the green battery on the board it would play forever.  I do not know if this would help, just what happened to me. I got rid of the machine.

I can agree with what Novao65 is saying. I also had 4 machines a few years back that would reel tilt when I had removed the green battery. Even if the battery was dead, as long as I put it back on the board it would work. They were all 502 boards. Go figure.

I guess I need to check which board I have then.I have 2 other machines with no batteries and they work perfectly, but, you never know.

Almost all the time you can remove the green battery with no problems. Every once in awhile you may run into a board that will give you a reel tilt if the battery is removed.

from experience, check the switch on the door to the cash can. better yet bypass it altogether. this will happen when the door is a little loose and the handle pull wiggles the door just enough. this would account for the door closure message.

Well, all I see is model 1952-2 on it.The board looks very clean with no corrosion,I haven't bypassed the door optics yet.I have tried to get it to tilt by moving the door around and it won't do it.It just tilts randomly.

I think you may be on to something here, the cash door on this machine does swing open very easily.

I have had the same problem with MPU's going bad and getting the door open M or B message you should definatly check the optics and cash door switch first I bypass my optics and splice the cashbox wires on all my machines. If you have another machine try swaping boards I actually have had that fix the problem in both machines because the board just wasn't connecting well with the backplane.

OK Here's my story again.  The first thing I do with a machine is pull the MPU and if I've never had that game theme before I read the Base chip into my files, while the board is out  I remove the green battery, install a clear and then a key chip and get rid of all the old Casino BS in book keeping. Then I bypass the cash can door and the counters. Now it's ready to plug in and test.

Got a litter of about (50) 3 reel S 2000 they all came from the same Casino. About 15 different game themes and just about all of them had SG000155 game chips. As I recall the first machine to start with the reel tilts was a Triple Star. Sometimes 4 or 5 tilts to play one game. Now it stands to reason it worked better than this when it was in a Casino. Did my removing the battery cause this, I don't know. I also don't remember if it was a 502 or a 504 board. I do know I tried all the known fixes and nothing worked until I installed a set of SG000363 Game chips. Reel tilts gone !! Ended up having to install 363s in just about every one of the machines. ( at a cost of about $10 per machine, you do the math. to me that's about $500 )  Some of the machines worked with the SG000155, but not very many.

So what is the conclusion here ? I'm not sure. I do know that a awful lot of the members of this site micromanage their machines, if the PSR calls for a set of SG chips they are going to change to what ever IGT tells them to use.  I my self have never found a standard S 2000 2,3,5 reel machine that a set of SG000363 won't work in. I could give a S**t less what the PSR calls for, I'm going to use what ever works and move on to the next machine. By the way I don't read the PSRs so guess  don't know what I'm missing.
