My 25 cent s2000 started jamming tonight. The coins were getting stuck under the knife. This happened a few months ago and, after just a small adjustment, the problem seemed resolved...until tonight! I read a few old threads here but they got into other issues that I didn't have.
I'm not sure if anyone else had done this but I thought I'd post what I did, in case this comes up.
So, the quarters kept getting stuck under the knife causing hopper jam and "empty hopper" errors.
I tried adjusting the knife and it would work and pay out a few quarters, then get jammed again.
After reading the threads on how exactly the knife works and how, over time, the knife can warp, I tried something...well two things.
First, I heated (with my heat gun - CAREFULLY) the "head" of the knife and just applied a little pressure in the direction of where it touches, of course. Next, I used a matte knife and re-sculpted the tip to a sharper point. Then (okay I guess it's three things!) I put the flat part (where the quarter rolls) on some sandpaper and sanded it so it was slightly wider. I deburred the sides and got off the bits of plastic and stuck it back in, adjusted it so it was barely touching the shelf and ... SUCCESS! It works perfectly...no lags whatsoever in payouts!
Anyway... I hope this same thing isn't somewhere else on the forum!
