I have a ballys 5500 triple 7s slot machine. It keeps bringing up error code C2 and C10. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrog with it or what I can do to fix it?

Try open and close door turn reset key if that dont clear  the error then look into a full ram clear

It displays C10 error in the top display box and in the win paid and credit boxes it displays EEEE AND EEEE and theccoinin shows a 8. How dod you do a ram reset?

The top box with the C2 and C10 messages is called a progressive meter.  It displays the progressive amount while you play the machine.  Anytime a C-number message is displayed, it means there is a communication error of some kind between the machine and the meter.  In this case, the C2 and C10 are error messages indicating that the value to display on the meter is too long to display (C2) and that controller has failed (C10).

The controller is another box that sits in your top box and connects to the meter.  It includes a power box and a board.  This is referred to as a Chameleon controller (or "Cham" for short).  There are several models ... Cham, Cham II and Cham II+ to name a few. 

Based on the error message, it's possible the Cham is missing.  You would have to open the door, remove the player tracking panel or cover, and then carefully remove the top glass by lifting the glass up and then gently pulling forward, down and out.  The meter is most likely attached to the glass, but the wires should be long enough for you to remove the meter from the glass, or, if the meter is attached too firmly, then just unplug it so you can examine the top box.  The best thing to do at this point is to take a picture of the top box and post it here so we can help you after that.

You may have some work ahead of you ... nothing hard ... but will take some time and patience.  I got my Cham working with a Bally I once had ... just takes time.  You may have to reprogram it as well as reset the machine.

Which brings up the last question ... what is a ram clear.  One of the steps that is sometimes involved (especially with the EEEE) is what we refer to as a ram clear.  It's a process where you insert a chip into the machine, turn it on and the chip will clear the machine of it's memory and settings.  It's a way to start from scratch.  It always good to have one for maintenance.  You can post a want-to-buy (WTB) on the Classifieds section of this site and ask for a ram clear and key chip for your Bally 5500.  Costs vary, but typically not more than $20.
