I'm trying to install a ChamII+ stand alone without the separate power supply on an S2000 machine. I need 12 volts and 5 volts to operate the stand alone.
I can get 12 volts for the processor board from the netplex distribution board so that is not a problem.
Where on the s2K can I tap off to get 5 volts to power the Mikohm display?
Pics would help
Thanks

You don't, the power supply for an S2000 does not supply 5V.

I guess I can pull 110v off of the bottom distribution and make my own 5v source. I just can't believe there no five volt lurking somewhere in the machine.
Thanks idesign for the rapid response.

110V AC to 5V DC.........Wouldn't it be easier just to buy the power supply and not fry something?

We are talking cheap and effective, I have a ton of old desktop computer power supplies and I will just use one of them.
Nice smooth 5 and 12 volt DC and there is plenty of room in the cab to mount it.
I thought I could take the easy way out by using existing wiring.

Thanks

Along as the display data and power cable are long enough the cham II+ and its power supply will fit under the BV housing
that is where I had mine and the display was in a topper on the top of the machine.

Thanks Foster,
I put the power supply in the lower case by the BV, made a harness that uses the PC hard drive connector, with long wires to the stand alone box up top.
I mounted the metal stand alone box in the top box because the ribbon harness was too short. The PC power supply works great!
Here is a pic of the 4 reel project so far, I have a few more things to do like put the progressive sticker in the top glass and finish around the display.
Sorry for the poor quality pic.

Rich
