What is the difference between a PE and PE+?
If I am looking at a machine, what should I look for to be able to tell the difference?

The PE machine does not have a built in BV.
The PE+ machines have the BV.
Your post inspired me to turn on the old PE today  Tongue Out

The one I saw is a PE.
Does this machine have the capability to use tokens instead of quarters.

Yes, tokens are fine. Just have the same coin in the comparitor and you're fine.

After reading some of the other posts, I guess some PE+ machines might not have the built in bill validator. I am attaching a pic of a machine I am going to look at this weekend. When I open up the machine, what should I look for that would determine a PE or a PE+.

Correct, there are PE+ machines that don't have a built-in validator.

To tell the difference easily, look at the MPU board and see how it connects.  If the tray has a handle on it (a black knob, typically) and it slides in and out to make its connection with the fixed motherboard, it's a PE+.  If there are a number of wire harnesses that must be connected/disconnected to remove or replace the MPU board, it's a PE.

After talking with the owner I found out that the model # is 1070C which from looking at other posts indicated it is a PE. I did not go look at the machine. Thanks to this site I didn't waste a two hour drive.
