The news called it a "Fry Heat". bust gut laughing

Officially 117 at the McCarran airport in Las Vegas.  They don't track Henderson, so could have been hotter.

I spent the day casino hopping ... they keep it real cool in the casino.  Had a frozen mud slide. Relax Drink

Keep cool everybody!

Oh don't worry guys! It's a dry heat remember?!?!!?
I personally have been to west coast to east coast via automobile  in 1976 a very "HOT" YEAR!
so I have experienced the dry heat and humid heat .
nothing compares to the east coast "HUMIDITY /COMBINED WITH 100+ DEGREES .
when you take your first gulp of air it feels like someone jammed a wet sponge down your throat .
then try to work outside in it . unless your young in good physical condition you will drop in 15 -30 minutes .
not to mention your clothes are like right out of washer dripping wet .
even the animals are not stupid seeing a  dozen deer standing in my pond just digging themselves . trying to cool down ..

Over 115 here in Moapa Valley too. Worse thing about living out here is there is no cold running water in the summer. If you have cloths that say wash in cold water only then I guess you have to wait until October!  rotflmao
To compound the hot (cold) tap water they run the water lines through the attic out here instead of basement ceilings like back in Mich.  Silly Me!

THIS IS SO TRUE!  You don't get cold water in the summer.  Sometimes, the cold is hotter than the hot!!

Okay, so it's  hot here in the desert  very hot, BIG DEAL! Have heard it all from "it's a dry heat" Tumbleweed to "it's hotter than hell in Havasu". Well I can tell you, hell IS cooler by 15 degrees, at least that's what I keep telling my wife. Tongue Out Tongue Out Tongue Out The things that keep me here (the wife.....not so much) are that you, NEVER HAVE TO SHOVEL heat, fill sand bags, never have used a credit card to clean off my windshield(well, maybe once to get the dried bugs off), use your car alarm to locate it in a pile of snow, ya can't slip on it(you can, however, slip on a wet pool deck), there are no tornado warning alarms, the only funnels you see here, are down at the channel all summer long- being used to consume beer chug chug or fill a jet ski with gas (sometimes the funnel beer thing and adding gas can be combined, but not recommend. Different funnels) no no no , your car NEVER gets mud on it(except when somebody is draining their spa/hot tub into the street-for obvious reasons) swimming, salt is used for margaritas- not highways, your complexion is never pasty(that's something that may fall off of a bikini clad woman dancing on a deck boat) smiley drool, if you're a HAVAC tech- you're never out of work, HIGH TEMPS usually only last for 3 months(the rest of the year it's 75 more or less), nobody owns a lawnmower or snow blower Snow Blower, never have to ask "Hot enough for ya??", THIS can NEVER happen here- Tongue on Pole, your pool temp is 10degrees less than the air temp-sometimes 5, you can recognise friends Bundle Up all year round, we can brag about being the hottest spot in the NATION (repeatedly)try bragging about being 20below, you can fry an egg on the sidewalk or bake cookies on your dashboard, you can save energy by turning off your hot water heater yet NEVER run out of hot water and I'm sure I COULD go on and on, but I'll let the other Desert Rats chime in if they'd like. I LIKE IT HERE cheers cheers cheers

Yeah the hot weather here in Michigan ALWAYS comes with high humidity. No dry heat. Although it's been in the 70's for the last 7 days! Could stay like this till Sept and then it could cool off and wouldn't break my heart. But your heat is headed our way and will be here very soon! But the trees and lakes make it go by quicker.

August is the kick off for Michigan Snowmobile events with a Pro Snow-Cross Race, a race track with real snow in August!
