I have been looking for another UBA for one of my Alphas for months now. Price has been the main issue so today I decided to install a WBA 13 SS that I had from an IGT S2000. I removed the UBA frame from the Alpha and installed the WBA frame. I noticed that they both use the same 20 pin connector, but left in the one that the machine was originally using with the UBA frame. (p/n #CBL-31034-0001)
All other parts swapped over fine and I installed a ID-0003 V3.75-32 4 mb chip in the WBA-13.
Powered up the machine but it does not recognize the WBA and I get the Comm Error on the machine. The machine is set-up in settings for the JCM Bill Val but it still will not recognize.
Next I removed the interface harness from the original one from the Alpha to the one from the IGT frame thinking this might be the issue.
I still get the Bill Comm error and the WBA will not cycle. The two red led's are illuminated on the CPU board of the WBA and all the switches are off.

The game will play since it still has credits on it from when it was set-up with the UBA but it will not accept bills with the current comm error.
I would think that it would not need a RAM clear since the setting will be that same and I'm still using a JCM product.

Hi Neonkiss, no need to RAM Clear, UBA to WBA is not the issue with game settings

Your issue is with the WBA, you need the additional RS232 Comm Board that mounts on the side of the WBA, without this you will always receive the Comm Error

Now where do I get a Comm Board or a UBA?

Quick Google search and I think I found a picture of one?

What is the pinout and do I need additional harnesses?

No Additional Harness' remove the connector from the WBA CPU and pull the Harness back, the Comm Board installs directly into the CPU then the original Harness installs into the RS232 Board

If I can find a picture I will post

I got some about a month or 2 ago. When my computer crashed I lost info. where I got them. Check with Coorslight, that is who told me where to get them. Maybe he remembers where I got them. I know it was a member on NLG.
