I have 3 16 meg boards - none with working sound - what controls the sound on these boards - (SP1145 120ns - and type 0 SS)  - ITS THE BOARDS - NOT THE MACHINE - NOT THE SPEAKER.

You did turn up the volume in the menu, I assume?  That would just be too lucky if they all just had the volumje turned all the way down.

TRY A SP1019 ON 16MG BOARD
SOUND IS IN THE MENU NO POTENTIOMETER ON A 16MG BOARD .

DO NOT USE A 16 MG BOARD FOR A HAYWIRE OR GO BAN -MONEY STORM -
SOUND ON RE-SPINS SOUNDS LIKE A CAT IN A BLENDER HORRIBLE NOISE .
THEY WORK FINE JUST HORRIBLE NOISE .

DOES THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE POST 65-0 THE OTHER DAY ??

and what does the sp1019 do that the sp1145 does not?  I have used the sp1145 in other 16m boards with no problem.

Last I knew the sp1019 could be used for re spin games. As I mentioned. You just don't want to enable the spin sound as in Haywire sound. It sounds like a cat in blender. Using it for reel stop sound only is fine. Don't you have a SP file that tells the advantages + disadvantages of different SP Chips? Along with what games they are compatible with.  I'm not trying to sound nasty. But your being "Vague"on both post you made here + on 65-0.  We never were told what SP Chip you were trying to pare up with what SS chip on that post.  My other point is the little sticker or manual IGT puts out with Error codes does not specify @ X's if your using a 8mg board a 10mg board or 16 mg board.  So when you get a oddball error and ask a simple question what SP # + what SS number are you using on both post. It would help in determining a "Solution" =Answer to your dilema.

OK YOUR POST MAKES SENSE NOW TO ME A LITTLE BIT . -WE KNOW THE SOUND IS ENABLED IN THE MENU SETTINGS ON 16MG BOARD -IF YOU HAVE 3 BOARDS  THAT WORK WITH SOUND AND 3 BOARDS THAT DONT WORK SAME SP AND SAME SS #

WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION ??OR WHATS YOUR POINT ??

YOU HAVE 3 BOARDS WITH SOUND WE KNOW KNOW !!
& NOW WE KNOW YOU HAVE 3--- 16 MG BOARDS WITH NO SOUND SAME SP & SS CHIPS USED

YOUR -NO FURTHER AHEAD THAN YOUR ORIGINAL POST .

UNLESS YOUR ASKING WHERE IS THE SOUND CHIP LOCATED ???ON THE 16MG BOARD -SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DRAW THINGS OUT OF PEOPLE . IN MA. YOU DONT PRESS RIGHT BUTTON YOU DONT GET RIGHT ANSWER .

There could be several hardware reasons you are not getting any sound.  I don't have a schematic of the 16 MHz board, but I'm sure it still uses an audio amp IC to amplify the sound from the sound chip.  It's an LM388 Op amp on the 10 MHz boards. I am not sure if the 16 MHz board uses the same amp chip or not, since they don't have the volume pot to control it.   The audio amp IC would be my first suspect.  Could also be a bad voltage regulator, open trace, broken sound oscillator crystal (if the board was ever dropped) or even a bad sound chip.

A simple post of what "component" controls sound output on the IGT 16MG board

would of simplified matters

Then  cut the "DANCE" time ! into a handshake not a dance . as I mentioned people from
MA. even if moved to FL.  for many years -then moved back still have MA. blood .

you don't press right button you don't get right answer lol
example :  if asked for directions from a MA. born raised person how to   get somewhere ? RE: Do you know how to get to Boston ?
the person who was raised in MA. would reply "YES" AND WALK AWAY ..  bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

Glad you got the info Barry .. if you need a spare or spares 16mg board -- I have two left  new ones -old stock of course never used .
pm or email if needed ?

wish you had piped in before all the DANCING.  appreciate your response - will debug the components around the YM IC and see if it something like a cap or triac.
