This is the gadget I was referring to in another post.  It's called a "DCS Daughter Board" and this is where the RS-232 plug is located.  This board plugs into the backplane behind the printer and behind a protective metal cover (so the printer doesn't push on the board).  The plug faces left as pictured, so it's very difficult to find and plug the RS-232 plug into.  This goes into the COM1 slot on the backplane.

I know some of you know this ... just posting for those who may get an AVP in the future.  Also thought Jim might want this for his instructions.  :Dave
