Hi guys after starting a thread here http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=25231.0

iv been inspired to convert my MVP into a MK6 XP.

My question today is am i able to use the MK5 S II driver board and I/O expansion boards on the MK6 XP main board.??

Also when i have more time i will put all conversion info from other threads here. If anyone has files regarding the conversions post here for easier reference

When I converted my USA MVP MK5 to a MK6 I used the same I/O board.
USA machines dont have separate comm and I/O boards, just a I/O.

Thanks laneman did you also use the same driver board?

I noticed u can use the same driver board for a mk5 and mk6 does that include mk6 xp.

I'm also going to use a toggle switch on the door switch to swap between NO and NC.

Instead of changing the spade connectors over when swapping boards. I saw this trick here but can't remember who did it.

I will post pics when done.

For a mk5 to mk6 all you need to do on an AU machine is swap the mainboards, comms & driver boards are the same, as you said the door switch wil need the toggle switch, you will need to adjust screen size etc. Your bil acceptor will not work for mk6 as it's programmed different & there is a differnet loom as well. You might also get a cashbox door open error which is a jump wire on the backplane board ( threads for that are on this site too ).

Just watch that the game you use is a 14 button game or you need to use a different door and harness ( 16 button). The same I/o and lab boards are used with the Xp. The note validated changes from a 2h24 to Ro8. Coin comparator on most mk6 is a condor plus and not the plain condor.  Just yell if you need more info

Yeah the game i have doesn't seem to gamble so it must be a 16 button game. Pressing gamble takes the wins?

Also in set up I had the option of 14 or 16 button would that make a difference?

In regards to bill validator if I get a R08 because its an xp board do I need to Chang the loom for it around??

Cheers

More than likely need to change the validator harness and the door button harness.
