I am working on a PE Plus, and the monitor is grey with some horizontal lines through it.  I thought it could be the monitor chassis, since the game plays blind.  I put the new monitor chassis in and it does the same thing.  Any suggestions of what to do or look for would be appriciated.

Also, some of the buttons are not lighting up, how the heck to you change the bulbs in them?  What bulb does it take?

Thanks again.

For that particular problem I would normally suspect the screen control on the flyback, but if you already swapped the chassis it's not likely because the flyback swapped with it. You might try fiddling with the brightness control and see if it makes a difference

Is the brightness control on the flyback?  I was trying to figure out how to access that when the monitor is in the game.  The chassis I put in was supposed to have been rebuilt.  Thanks for the help.

The screen control is on the flyback. Kinda like brightness control except it adjust flyback output. Brightness control is a separate potentiometer usually located and marked as such on the chassis itself or it can be a satellite control with a harness going to the chassis. I honestly don't know how the pe+ games are set up

There are two small knobs on the side of flyback arranged one above the other, one does the focus the other the power output, sorry, not sure which but think focus is on the bottom. They are not the easiest of things to adjust and you have to remove the monitor from the machine, make an adjustment and then put it back to see the result and then repeat until correct. Make very small adjustments on these as they make a big difference. Also be very careful with what you are touching!

The other controls to adjust screen size, contrast and brightness are on a satellite board which on my machines are located above the screen on the right hand side.

On my PE+ bartop, if you look on the underside of the buttons you can see where the light bulb sockets are -- a half turn or so and they will pull out of the button housing.  The bulbs are #86 bulbs (6.3v T1-3/4 mini wedge base).  I bought LED replacements -- the white "W1" color bulbs from BCsPinball.com for $1 a piece -- and I'm very happy with them, plus they'll likely never burn out again.
