Helping a friend out with a Bally Pro Slot Manufacture date of 2/97. He has had the machine for years and has worked. Machine has been off for sometime, turned on got the 81 error. Changed out the battery, Put in the holder w/2 aa's. Tried the reset, machine comes up with the 83f error (safe ram error). I have the instructions for the clear process. Placed the jumper, held in both buttons while turning on. Never got the CHC OR CLC. When I turned it on went right to the 83f, button lights flash off and on, same with the candle light, bill validator does cycle. Am I missing something? Poss may require clear chip? I'm not to familiar with Bally's.

Thanks for any help. Ed

I'll start off by saying I have no idea.

The first thing I check when I need to use a switch to perform a function, is to make sure the switches are, in fact, working. So in this case, I would check to make sure the buttons are actually working, since the function didn't happen the way it should. If your door also has to be open during the process, make sure your door switch is working. Maybe the door switch was altered or moved, which might make troubleshooting tough.

On the floor here, the worst machines to figure out are the ones with a stuck door switch. It would take forever to figure out the problem was actually that the door wasn't open, because it wasn't what I was looking for. Now it's one of the first things I check for, just to save myself the grief.

If your switches are all working, I can't offer anything past that.

Sounds like the mains in the machine need a RAM clear chip and are not the 9200XXX that use the jumper to clear.

Thanks for the info. I will check switches, and see what mains are in there. I don't have the machine here, it may take a day or 2 till I get back over there.

Got over there today. Switches seem to be working. I believe the mains are correct. Problem is I don't have another Bally board or machine to try. Any more ideas? Thanks Ed

Neon is spot on. Those mains are the 9500xxx that require a clear chip.

applause Clap applause Clap applause Clap Thanks to Styx, Neonkiss & CVslots machine is working. Karma to all. Used the clear chips. Everything is working fine, just curious to what the 2 components are by JW7. Was mentioned that they are not chips but jumpers. They have what appears to be broken contacts but machine works fine. Thanks again Ed
