Reel reader problems with converted military machine

Hello everyone,

I am the new one here.
I'm from Germany and have a problem with a "E-755 / E-1230" military machine. It seems to be a conversion made in the Netherlands in 1993. I own it for about 10 years but I've never found any kind of information about it. All the time it worked well, but now the reels won't stop an there is no tilt and no error code. I have the military machine manual but the described reel reader test don't work - the display shows no change when I spin the reels.
For additional information there is a high resolution picture of the CPU board with the original sticker and the "hacked" eproms.
I have not much experience with the electronics of this machine, so it would be great, if someone could help me to make it play angain.

I have had a Military machine before.
Not sure if this is your problem, but the battery on the MPU is missing. Did you replace it?

It sure is converted. That is a E2000 MPU.

Try disconnecting all your wire and cable connectors on ALL your boards and reconnecting them. They may have oxidized/corroded over time.

Have you lubricated the entire reel assembly? The grease gets dry over time and does not all the mechanism to operate properly.

Maybe the readers need the bulbs cleaned, if it has the 50 volt readers.

Are the kick switches on the reel mechanism working and adjusted properly?

Spinning without stopping and no error codes is a kick switch issue.
I use a battery pack for a cordless phone for the missing battery.

Thank you for your fast replies! The machine plays again!!!

I disconnected the most connectors. But in the end (I think) it was the kick switch. The problem appeared after I moved the machine. The crimped cable plug was slightly loose. So I cleaned the whole area and fixed the lower cable shoe. After restart the machine worked at first attempt. Since then I played ~ 200 plays without any problems.

I found a 3.7 V Battery from an old camera. I will install it to be on the safe side.

That 3.7 volt battery that you found. Is in NiCad? if it is a Li-ION battery then you need to remove R62 100 ohm resistor, maybe replace it with a diode. A Li-ION battery will or rather may get over heated while being charged and then catch fire.

One of our members Foxslots sells parts for these and you can purchase the correct battery for $9.95. Much cheaper than the alternative.

It's a Li-Ion battery pack. It did not get warm yet - but I will keep an eye on it.
