IGT Fortune 1 Boards (By Belbenchtech)

[SAT (aka GANDHI)]

Fortune 1 MPU Boards...(NOTE...Fortune 1 bds. components are indicated on a X-Y axsis (Alphabet on the vertical & numerical on the horizontal...so, if you can read a roadmap you can probably find the components I'm referring to).

Problem; Divertor constantly energized.
Solution; Replaced F6 (H11A1) divertor control

Problem; Scrambled screen.
Solution; Replaced A11, pins 11, 12, 13, & 14 all held low (should be pulsing).

Problem; Cards had no red.
Solution; Replaced B8 ( color attribute PROM).

Problem; No video.
Solution; Replaced B2 (RAM).

Problem; No video.
Solution; Repl. C5 (000-7FF).

Problem; All cards have red numbers.
Solution; Repl. A10.

Problem; White wave rolled across screen (erratic behavior on test sta.).
Solution; Repl. all +/- capacitors on board.

Problem; Scrambled video.
Solution; Repl. A12.

Problem; No coin out indication on screen.
Solution; Repl. B8.

Problem; No coin-in reset.
Solution; Repl. I3.

Problem; No cards (blue screen with only divertor light on).
Solution; Repl. C7 (.1uF, 25V part of reset ckt.).

Problem; No blue backround & distorted picture.
Solution; Repl. CAP-PROM (B8).

Problem; Scrambled & hopper runaway

Problem; Screen scrambled.

It's been the mid-90s since I worked on any of those boards, and I have tendency to forget knowledge I seldom use...I believe the sockets were filled, it may have been with jumper packs and not ICs...as I remember there were two jumper packs installed in sockets, I just don't remember the board designation!

Sorry, I'm not of more help, maybe you can get one of the dealers to take a picture of a Fortune 1 board and tell from that.

Anyone direct me to the 5v regulator on the board.  My machine just has a pure Blue screen.  This check list just states to replace 5v regulator.  Great, where is she at?

Hi "TECH" CHAD,

You might try looking for a three legged device (looks kind of like a low power MOSFET) that has 7805 stamped on it...

Just checked the schematic...evidently these boards were manufactured before the 7805 was around...the schematic has the 5V regulator being a, LM340T-5...you may have a tough time finding something from that era...

There are two 5 volt regulators. the one you are looking for I believe is in the right rear corner of the board ( G 16) inside what looks like a fence (heat sink). There are two there one is a 5 volt the other a 12 volt. If that's not it then there is another just to the left (E 14)next to the bridge rectifier, it may have a clip on heat sink. The board is laid out in a grid system with numbers running from left to right and letters running from front to back.

The standalone 5V regulator is a -5V regulator (negative 5 volts). The +5V regulator is inside the large heatsink along with the +12V regulator.
