Different com protocols, you'll need cham2 display setups for a con2.

CHAMM2 works perfectly with a CON2.  What is your problem?

My problem is its not a cham2. Can I use the display from a Cham with a Cham 2 controller?

Yes you can use a CON2 with a CHAM1 what you will need is a Gateway

Gateway Interface Boards and Software
SUMMARY OF GATEWAY SOFTWARE

GW:   Current versions include SINFO.
GWI:   Gateway software used to communicate Serial Return to IGT machines from CON1 controllers.
GW2:    Allows CON2 controllers to communicate with CHAMI displays.
JP Groups 0 – 3 are available for display. Requires CHAM1 v7.15 and PRC (Progressive Chip Controller v6.1 or greater) software.

Oh yeah, the gateway. I had totally forgotten about that.  I think I gave up on the gateway after I could never find one.  I just found it was cheaper to buy used cham2 hardware than to locate one of those.

I bought a Gateway some time ago thinking I would do that but ended up going the CHAMM2 route.  I have no idea how to hook it up but if you want it I will let it go cheap.  PM me.

I have cham2 hardware so I probably won't need the gateway, thanks for the offer though. I do however want to clarify something for myself.

Can I use the RGY meter (not the cham1 driver) from the old sign with the new cham2 board? Or is that using a different protocol also?

It is a different connector. I've never tried it, but the logic seems to be totally different.
